For 199 episodes, AEW Dynamite has been changing the very landscape of professional wrestling. October 2nd, 2019 started a revolution which continues to this very day – as we bring you coverage of the 200th episode of Dynamite – which promises to be a celebration of everything that makes AEW great.
The first ever AEW World Champion Chris Jericho is being pulled in some new directions lately, knowing that it’s time for a change in his career which has been built on re-invention.
One man who supports this journey for change is Don Callis, someone who goes way back with Jericho – and has his own growing faction.
Tonight, Jericho tests the waters of the Don Callis Family as he teams up with Konosuke Takeshita. Their opponents are Sammy Guevara & Daniel Garcia, two key members of the Jericho Appreciation Society.
The First AEW Champion Is Still Dominant 200 Episodes Later
Jericho would start with Guevara, who has been aligned with Jericho since the first Dynamite. A shoulder tackle ran Guevara down, but he refused to stay down and hit the jumping knee strike. Garcia would get the tag, and found time to pose for the camera with Guevara before trading strikes with Jericho.
Garcia would use his wrestling skills to take Jericho down with an arm wrench, before Takeshita got the tag and used the rope to build up speed for the Takeshita-Line. Jericho would hit a big backdrop suplex, before a cocky pinfall for the one count. Takeshita got some cheap shots on the apron, and Jericho would remain in control in the middle of the ring.
Callis would trip up Garcia as he briefly gained control, allowing Jericho to hit a big boot to the face. Garcia would drop Jericho and crawled for a tag – but Takeshita hit the running elbow drop. Jericho & Takeshita would show some natural tag team chemistry, with Garcia isolated in their corner of the ring.
A Lionsault was attempted by Jericho after an elbow smash, with Garcia getting his knees up – and making the tag to Guevara. He’d fly off the top rope onto Takeshita, before sending both opponents to the floor with lariats. Guevara kept the speed going, diving over the ropes onto Jericho & Takeshita – before a frog splash in the ring.
Chris Jericho Makes A Crucial Choice
Jericho broke the pinfall up – and Takeshita would hit the Blue Thunder Bomb, before applying his variant of The Liontamer. Guevara would break free, only to almost end up in the Liontamer from Jericho, but blocked into a roll up for two. Jericho & Guevara both went for lariats, leading to a double down.
Garcia got the tag, but he’d run into a Codebreaker from Jericho. This was enough for a two count, but Garcia would keep fighting. Takeshita was taken out by Guevara after a Shooting Star Press to the floor, before Judas Effect was blocked by Garcia in the ring.
Dragon Slayer was locked by Garcia, with Don Callis breaking the submission up using the bat of Jericho. This was clearly seen by Jericho, who was conflicted – but took the win. Jericho has picked Don Callis over the Jericho Appreciation Society – which could be the end of this faction.
After this match, Matt Menard would announce that next week, the J.A.S is having a mandatory meeting – and Jericho better be there.
Jerry Lynn Has A Friend To Fight Jack Perry, Rob Van Dam Arrives In AEW
Jack Perry is the FTW Champion, but doesn’t give a shit about the legacy this belt holds. He doesn’t respect its roots in Extreme Championship Wrestling, saying he’s the best wrestler that has ever even looked at this belt.
One man who took exception to this was the legendary Jerry Lynn, who built the foundation for the careers of people like Perry. Last week, Lynn was ready for a fight despite his retired status, and tonight – comes face to face with Perry again.
Lynn would come out dressed in his producer uniform, and said that he can’t come to the ring and make an example of Perry – as that’d be nothing more than child abuse.
With all the plates and screws in his neck, he can’t be cleared – but he has a friend in mind. Walk by Pantera would hit, and Rob Van Dam would hit the ring and get face to face with Perry.
RVD is a legend equal to Lynn, but remains active in the ring – and is now linked to All Elite Wrestling. This is a great get for AEW, and very bad news for Perry – tried to ambush RVD after fleeing. RVD was able to easily dodge, and drove Perry to hide behind a kid in the crowd.
Will RVD take down Perry? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
