The Elite are back after battling in Blood & Guts – and have new contracts with AEW. However, they are also perhaps facing down their biggest challenge to date. In terms of scale, it doesn’t get bigger than “One In A Billion’ Satnam Singh, who teams with a legend in Jeff Jarrett & future legend in Jay Lethal.
As former AEW World Trios Champions, Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks are ready for any challenge, but if Singh gets some momentum behind him – it might be impossible to cut him down to size.
The Elite Remain On The Top Of Their Game
Omega & Jarrett would start this match, a face off no one expected. Jarrett would apply a headlock, before Omega broke free and was planted by a scoop slam.
Omega would take a poke to the eye before Lethal got the tag, but still managed a quick arm drag. The Young Bucks would use their tag team skills against Lethal – before Singh was tagged in.
Matt Jackson would stand against Singh, and Omega & Nick would refuse a tag, feeling Matt had this. Nick was tagged in as he turned his back, and the Young Bucks would try to break Singh down with a dropkick – but took a double crossbody instead. Jarrett & Co would mock the taunt of The Elite, before working on isolating Nick in their half of the ring.
Lethal would hit the hip toss into the dropkick, showing his explosive offense, before a big backbreaker punished Nick – and got a one count.
Nick would hit a massive superkick, and made the tag to Omega. The Best Bout Machine would look to get this match back in the control of The Elite – but Singh would delay a moonsault allowing Lethal to get his knees up.
Lethal Injection on the Young Bucks would be countered, before Singh would take a superkick party and the V-Trigger. A One Winged Angel attempt would see Singh be lifted by Omega – but Dutt made the save. The Hardy Boys would rush to ringside to drop Dutt, and Jarrett readied his guitar in the ring.
Hangman Page was there to drop Jarrett with the Buckshot Lariat – before Omega hit the V-Trigger & One Winged Angel on Lethal for the victory. The Elite are here to stay in AEW, and got a big win here tonight.
Aussie Open Look To Prove Their Tag Team Dominance
When Aussie Open would sign contracts with All Elite Wrestling, it was clear that they would be dominant in the tag team division. They delivered on this at ROH Death Before Dishonor, where they became the ROH World Tag Team Champions.
The AEW World Tag Team Championships are also in their sights, having unfinished business with FTR after a five star match in the UK last year. Tonight, they defend their ROH belts against El Hijo Del Vikingo & Komander – who have all the speed and skill to win this match.
Fletcher would start with AAA Mega Champion Vikingo, who would use his speed to cut Fletcher down before being met by the powerhouse Davis. Komander would jump off the shoulders of Vikingo for a hurricanrana, before Aussie Open would retake control. Fletcher took Komander to the mat before hitting a PK – with Davis following using the XL Senton.
Komander would try to fight back, but was taken down with the Dental Plan and a launched cutter for a two count. Fletcher would be dropped again, before Davis took a double dropkick.
Vikingo would set up Fletcher in the ropes before a diving leg drop, only for Davis to regain control. Komander was tagged in, but absolutely dominated by the power of Davis – being slammed into the mat.
Aussie Open Remain Dominant
Fletcher would get a tag alongside Vikingo, and took the Assisted Iconoslam. Komander would jump off Vikingo who was set up for a Death Valley Driver, and took Fletcher down before Vikingo rolled up Davis for a near fall. Dual dives to the floor would follow from Vikingo & Komander – before a double 450 Splash on Davis in the ring.
Fletcher was there to break the pinfall up, and would drive Vikingo to the floor and into the barricade. Komander missed the Rope Walk Shooting Star Press, and was dropped with Coriolis for the victory. A message was sent to the AEW tag team division, and we know the champs were watching.
