According to a medical expert, individuals with ADHD experience a heightened sense of rejection from their close ones, which was highlighted after Prince Harry’s public revelation of his diagnosis on television.
Experts React To Prince Harry’s ADHD Diagnosis-‘The Intensity Of The Rejection Is Magnified’
Earlier this month, Dr. Gabor Maté, an expert in trauma, diagnosed Harry with attention deficit disorder. According to therapist Michael Uram, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) can cause unstable relationships and low self-esteem.
He also mentioned that the negative symptoms of ADHD can be intensified for individuals in the public eye. In his comments, he said: “Many celebrities are forced to be vulnerable often, which magnifies the Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD) aspect of ADHD.
“When you have RSD, relationships are incredibly important to you, so when family members or a respected friend judge you or another loved one, the intensity of the rejection is magnified.”
During the interview for his memoir, Spare, Maté identified the Duke’s condition as attention deficit disorder, which the specialist believes is a typical reaction to unusual stress.
This is understandable when we look at the fact that Harry had to walk behind his mother’s coffin at Princess Diana’s funeral.
In addition, the Duke admitted that he suffered trauma for her death since he recalled driving through the tunnel where she had died.
In other parts of the interview, Harry discussed his consumption of drugs, such as cocaine and marijuana. Dr James Walker, in response, had this to say: “The symptoms of ADHD include difficulty paying attention, hyperactivity and impulsivity.
“These symptoms can impact a person’s ability to function effectively in various areas of their life, including school, work and social situations.”
The response on social media was mixed. A certain subset of people felt that Harry had genuine issues that he needed to address in order to patch things up with his family.
Meanwhile, others began to bash the Duke on the basis that his conduct was simply out of order, rather than it being any trauma. One person wrote: “Harry does not have any stress.
“He ran away from his job and his life with the Royal Family to live in a mansion in sunny California with millions in the bank! Wish my life was so stressful.”
It is clear that Harry has a lot of things on his mind, but how he deals with that is another matter. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
