It has been revealed that the upcoming season of The Crown will feature a recreation of Prince Harry’s Nazi costume, which had sparked controversy in the past.
The Crown Will Reportedly Recreate Prince Harry’s Nazi Costume Scandal
The upcoming show will include a fancy dress party theme titled ‘native and colonial’, which was previously attended by the then 20-year-old Duke of Sussex.
According to a source who spoke to The Sun, the costume Harry wore is considered to be a highly embarrassing moment for him. The source also found it ironic that the incident was brought up by Netflix.
In 2008, a photo of Harry, published by The Sun newspaper, gained widespread attention as it showed him dressed in the attire of an Afrika Korps member.
The Prince had worn this costume to a party thrown by Richard Meade, a prominent Olympic showjumper. The outfit consisted of a swastika on his arm and the German Wehrmacht badge on his collar, both symbols associated with the Nazis.
The event was attended by him and Prince William. According to reports, William wore a tight black bodysuit with a leopard print pattern, along with a matching tail and paws. Meanwhile, Harry wore a jacket resembling an army-style with a German flag on the arm at some point.
The Royal Family apologized for the outfit in a timely manner after the photo was released. However, it took three months for Harry himself to acknowledge the incident and refer to it as one of the significant mistakes in his life.
And yet, in his memoir, Spare, Harry suggested that William did have a part to play in the fact that he wore the costume. It was clearly not Harry’s finest moment, which is why this will not go down well with the Duke.
With that being said, the fans on social media had a lot to say about the matter. A large proportion of people felt that it was time to move on given the large amount of time that had passed since the incident.
Meanwhile, others felt that there were equally bigger scandals that were not getting any airtime. One person wrote: “How long ago was this? Move on,” while another person stated: “Have they done Andy on Epstein’s islands yet, need some young actresses.”
This is clearly not Harry’s finest moment, which is why bringing it up again will not help him. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
