The pair had been together for around two years ever since they got together in 2002. But given that the media perception of their relationship was so negative, it naturally had a contributing factor to both of them walking away.
In addition, given that they were younger at the time, it simply became too much to handle. During an interview with Rolling Stone, Jennifer said: “It was one of the happiest times of my life.
“But also, there was this other thing happening where we were being criticised, and it really destroyed our relationship from the inside out, because we were just too young to understand at that time.”
This begs the question: what was the criticism centred around? Well, it turns out that the media had decided to criticise Jennifer’s Latin background, coupled with the fact that there was a perception that the two were an odd couple.
This was followed by brutal shades on TV shows such as South Park, where Jennifer was described as a ‘mean-spirited b—h.’ She added: “It was brutal.
“It’s one of those things that you bury very deeply, so you can move on and get about your business.” But after having had failed relationships with Marc Anthony and Alex Rodriguez, Jennifer has managed to learn a lot in that regard.
Furthermore, given that she would go on to have children, it has taught her the value of trying to work things out in the face of adversity.
The same could equally be said of Ben, who had a failed relationship with Jennifer Garner but still managed to have children and continues to co-parent with her. That is why Jennifer is now a whole lot more grateful for what she has.
She continued: “Today, especially, if you ask me what my first thought was, it was, ‘Thank you. Thank you, God, for this day.
