Bron Breakker has finally realized what it’s like to be NXT Champion. He’s had a target on his back since he defeated Tommaso Ciampa, with Santos Escobar being the one hunting him. Escobar has spent the past month stalking Breakker, saying that everything is done on his time. However, the contract is signed – and now no amount of attempted ambushes or big talk can give Escobar an edge. Tonight, he meets the young champion one on one – and finds out first hand just why he’s already on top of NXT.
Santos Escobar Channels The Spirit Of Eddie Guerrero
Escobar would have all of Legado Del Fantasma at ringside, and was paying tribute to Eddie Guerrero with his trunks tonight. He’d drive Breakker into the corner, before being shoved across the ring with ease. A tight headlock was applied on Escobar, before Breakker was shoved off and got him in the nose with a dropkick.
Breakker wasn’t stunned however, and would roll Escobar over and hit a delayed vertical suplex – giving his challenger plenty of time to think about it. He’d follow up with a lighting fast lariat, showing that he’s got speed on top of his power. A simple backbreaker landed on Breakker, and Wilde would run a distraction. Escobar hit from behind and sent Breakker to the floor, before nailing the Arrow From The Depths Of Hell.
Breakker was feeling the damage after that dive, but was able to kick out at two. A neckbreaker followed, before another using the middle rope for extra whiplash. The running knee strike in the corner found another near fall, before applying a Liontamer using the ring post for some extra damage.
Bron Breakker Survives The Attack Of Dolph Ziggler On His Way To Victory
We’ve never seen Breakker in his deep of trouble in a match before, and a tight chinlock in the middle of the ring would only add to his troubles. Breakker fought free, but took a shot right to the back of the neck to send him back to the mat. Escobar would take some time to jawjack before having his punch blocked by Breakker.
The champion was fired up and he’d hit some slugging blows before hitting a tilt-a-whirl sideslam to drop Escobar. Mendoza & Wilde ran distractions, and Breakker took them both out. Elektra Lopez ran a better distraction, and DOLPH ZIGGLER WAS HERE! He’d nail a superkick on Breakker, and thought he handed a win to Escobar – but Breakker kicked out at two.
Tommaso Ciampa would take Ziggler away before Escobar hit a tornado DDT! The same move that set up a frog splash 18 years ago, but Escobar would miss Breakker and was driven down with a spear. Breakker would nail the Military Press Slam, and that’s defense #1 for Breakker.
