The latest round of late 2021 WWE releases are now officially free agents. This crew included the likes of John Morrison, Isaiah ‘Swerve’ Scott, and Tegan Nox. While Morrison & Swerve had solid runs in WWE before being released, winning some gold and having some big moments – the same can sadly not be said about Tegan Nox.
Being signed from the UK indy scene, the former Nixon Newell joined NXT at the time when being a great wrestler can get you far. Sadly, multiple knee injuries set her back – and by the time she was healthy, the writing was already on the wall. Soon after being called up to the WWE main roster, she would be cut from her contract – and this was no surprise to Nox.
Tegan Nox Knew She Was Going To Be Release, Didn’t Fit The Diva Image WWE Is Looking For Again
While chatting with Chris Denker on ‘Into The Danger Zone’, Nox would reveal the details about the end of her run within WWE. She was drafted to the RAW brand, and never even had a chance to make her debut due to COVID-19. After being cleared to return, she was released just a few short weeks later – and this was not a surprise for Nox. She would say the following about the mood in the locker room before her WWE release.
“Everyone is walking on eggshells. With all the releases happening, you kind of feel, ‘it could be me next.’ I just had this feeling where I wasn’t…not welcome, but as such wanted; I don’t fit the demographic that they’re looking for. I’m a five-foot six blonde-brunette girl, covered in tattoos. Watching the product now, it’s very much Diva era, going back to it, I feel. I always felt like I was on the chopping block, even if I could wrestle.”
As of the time of writing, Nox has not signed a new deal. Fans are hoping to see her pop up in AEW or Impact Wrestling in the coming weeks.
