Over her reign as AEW World Women’s Champion, Britt Baker has managed to avoid one of her greatest rivals. Back when she became a star thanks to a gutsy performance in a Lights Out match – it was Thunder Rosa who got the victory that night. Now, after her mercenary Mercedes Martinez failed to take out Rosa – instead ending up as her ally, Baker can’t run anymore. On the latest episode of AEW Dynamite, Baker would get pinned by Rosa in a tag team match, which puts Baker in her hardest battle to date.
Britt Baker Holds Onto Her Championship Once Again
Rosa would quickly start and took Baker to the mat – but Baker was able to hold her own and nearly apply the Lockjaw. Baker would be sent into the corner with a big knee strike – before turning things around and choking Rosa. Baker drew the attention of the referee as Jamie Hayter would attack Rosa.
Cravat would be applied, and Baker was able to hit some knee strikes to the jaw of Rosa. Again in the corner, Baker would stomp Rosa out – before heading outside and yanking her neck first into the steel of the ring post. Rosa would take some forearm blows and come back twice as hard.
Baker would look for a Crossface Chickenwing, but Rosa countered into a German Suplex. Double knee strike in the corner would follow, but the second would be blocked into an Air Raid Crash from Baker. Pendulum Suplex would follow, a new move from Baker – but only getting a two count.
Rosa would come back with a Superplex, before setting up a Fireman’s Carry Neckbreaker. Sliding Lariat landed, but only got a two count. Lockjaw would nearly get applied, but Rosa was able to fight it off. Baker would hit a top rope Air Raid Crash – but even that couldn’t keep Rosa down.
Tombstone would land, but Rebel ran the distraction to ensure the pinfall wasn’t counted. Hayter slid the belt in, before Rosa was curb stomped onto it for a two count. Lockjaw countered and Rosa would apply her own version, before Rebel once again ran the distraction. Rosa would spear Rebel through the ropes, before a lariat on Jamie Hayter as well. A second curbstomp would land, and Baker would remain champion.
Bryan Danielson & Jon Moxley Bring The Violence
Bryan Danielson is ready to bleed with Jon Moxley in order to get him on his side to lead a faction of young talent in AEW. Moxley thinks that Danielson has a good idea in taking the likes of Wheeler Yuta or Daniel Garcia under their wings. However, he won’t know if he can trust Danielson until he meets him in the ring – which will also prove that Danielson doesn’t simply fear Moxley.
Danielson would quickly be able to take Moxley down to the mat, but Moxley would push to send both men out of the floor. Moxley would linger and give Danielson a chance to breathe, before slapping him across the face. Danielson would be waiting for his opening, and Moxley gave it to him – taking a slap, and responding with three quick strikes. Moxley would stomp Danielson into the corner, before dropping him with the back elbow strike.
Danielson would take some midkicks, before being able to catch one into a Dragon Screw leg whip. Moxley would take some of the hard kicks of Danielson, and some even harder chops before snapping back to reality. A rolling solebutt kick would catch Moxley off guard, before a running dropkick in the corner.
Moxley was able to nail a snap Saito Suplex, before taking a roundhouse kick to the ear. Danielson latched onto Moxley with a chokehold, but Moxley countered into the X-Plex. Open palm strikes would catch Danielson in the face, before he’d get launched to the floor. Danielson would avoid the dive from Moxley and thought he hit his own – only to be caught right into a hockey brawl.
Jon Moxley Survives The American Dragon – Enter William Regal To Restore Order
Back into the ring, both men were bloody, and Danielson was battered with some knee strikes. Moxley kept them coming and added some headbutts in – before thinking Paradigm Shift. Danielson slipped out, and a super Paradigm Shift attempt would go even worse for Moxley – ending in the Super Backdrop.
Moxley would take the Hammer & Anvil Elbows before ending up in a Dragon Sleeper. His long frame would help him get the ropes, before looking for the Rear Naked Choke. Danielson would counter, but some elbows would soften him up. Moxley got the choke, but Danielson fought free and applied the LeBell Lock.
An attempt to stomp the head of Moxley in would instead see Danielson get his ankle picked. Moxley would be the one stomping Danielson out, before he’d apply the Bulldog Choke. The same move that took out Mr. Brodie Lee – would be the move that The American Dragon was fading in. A roll up almost got Danielson free, but the Regal Plex would do it.
Running knee strike would drop Moxley, but not enough for the pinfall. Moxley would get his head stomped, and Triangle Sleeper was applied. Danielson hit some elbow butts while in the hold, but Moxley stayed in the fight. Straight punched to the forehead would come as well, but a slick pinfall counter saw Moxley get the win!
After the bell, they kept on fighting – and William Regal was there to bring peace! Slaps the jaw of both men – and some hard words would follow, before forcing them to shake hands. This story is far from done.
