Thunder Rosa was screwed out of the AEW World Women’s Championship at AEW Revolution. She had Britt Baker beat twice, only for Rebel & Jamie Hayter to prevent the referee from seeing it. When Rosa took them out, it just allowed for Britt Baker to hit the curbstomp – and claim the win. However, Rosa isn’t giving up – and tonight has a chance to earn another title shot, as she goes one on one with Leyla Hirsch.
Thunder Rosa Gets Britt Baker In A Steel Cage
Rosa would have her ankle picked to start this match, but was able to fight back to her feet. Fire Thunder Driver was blocked by Hirsch, before some heavy kicks to a grounded Rosa. Rosa took the snap suplex, but was able to kick out at two.
Hirsch would hang Rosa in the tree of woe, before bending the arm around the bottom rope. Double knee strike would follow, before Rosa was able to make the comeback. Hirsch was tripped onto the middle rope, and took a dropkick to the back – and then the chest.
Northern Lights Suplex would land for a two count, before Hirsch got a two count off a German Suplex. Rosa nailed a modified facebuster, before Hirsch rolled to the outside. Hirsch grabbed a spare turnbuckle support, but Red Velvet made the save.
Fire Thunder Driver was blocked into a cross armbreaker. Rosa fought free, and nailed that Fire Thunder Driver for the victory! She now meets Britt Baker for the AEW Women’s World Championship in her hometown. One year ago, they met in a Lights Out match – and this time it’ll be a Steel Cage Match!
Sammy Guevara Potentially Injures His Ribs
For the past year, no one has been able to pin or submit Scorpio Sky. Despite this, he wasn’t able to get a singles title shot until now. Sammy Guevara has had a perfect record since becoming the TNT Champion for the second time, but tonight might be his hardest challenge yet. It’s championship vs. streak, and whoever comes out on top has Wardlow to worry about.
With Ethan Page & Dan Lambert in his corner, Sky had backup – while the Inner Circle broke up earlier in the night. Guevara is left on his own tonight, but was not rattled. He dodged the kick of Sky, and quickly took this fight to the outside.
A table was set up by Guevara, and Sky nearly hit the TKO through the table. Guevara instead slipped off the shoulders and nailed a heavy superkick. Sky was set up on the table, and Guevara launched the 630 senton… and got nothing but table. Tay Conti would rush to the ringside area to check on her partner, who was pointing to his ribs.
Scorpio Sky Claims The TNT Championship
Page, Lambert & Sky were all yelling for a referee or doctor stoppage, and demanding the belt is handed to Sky. Conti was demanding that Guevara lives to fight another day, but Guevara would be helped up the ramp – before demanding to go back into the ring.
Sky would be more than willing to keep the fight coming to Guevara, and Guevara just spat in his face. Some knee strike to the midsection would follow, before Sky threw Guevara to the outside. Sky scooped Guevara up, before Paige VanZant would talk some trash to Tay Conti.
The backbreaker in the ring would be followed by a second, and some trash tall. Another backbreaker landed, but Guevara was able to kick out. Camel Clutch was applied, but Guevara fought free and nailed the double springboard cutter. He’d get Sky up and nail the GTH – before looking for the Shooting Star Press.
Sky got his knees up to block, and at ringside – Paige VanZant took out Tay Conti. Sky would nail the TKO and we have a new TNT Champion! Laying out Conti in the ring, Paige VanZant would sign her AEW contract on her first rival – and American Top Team is here to stay>
