During ROH Supercard of Honor, Jay Lethal showed his true colors. He’d cheat to defeat Lee Moriarty, and at the end of the show would demand a shot at the ROH World Championship. He’d beat down his friend Jonathan Gresham – a man he claimed to make a star. However, in that moment – Samoa Joe would hit the scene, and Lethal knew to run. Samoa Joe is now signed to All Elite Wrestling – and tonight will wrestle Max Caster with a spot in the Owen Hart tournament on the line.
Samoa Joe Wins Debut Match
After calling Joe injury prone and questioning why AEW would hire him, Caster took a headbutt to the jaw. Some fast jabs would follow, before some heavy chops in the corner. Caster was sent post to post, before the fake out enziguri. A snapmare would be followed by a chop the neck, PK, and running elbow drop.
Caster went to the outside, before taking the Elbow Suicida – an ode to the legendary Mitsuharu Misawa. Bowens ran a distraction but it would just anger Joe. Back in the ring, Muscle Buster would land. It was over, and Joe moves to the Owen Hart tournament.
Sonjay Dutt & Jay Lethal would speak to Joe from backstage, and would insult Joe for being unavailable. For months, Joe ignored his calls – when Lethal just wanted some advice from his mentor. Next week, they will see him in the ring – and will officially welcome him to AEW.
Blackpool Combat Club In Action For Rampage – Wardlow Is Coming
There is a single blemish on the record of MJF when it comes to AEW Dynamite in 2022, and that is a DQ loss to Shawn Dean. CM Punk had rushed the ring and attacked Dean, forcing MJF to take the loss. Tonight, The Chairman Shawn Spears is tasked with revenge, and we have a battle of the Shawn’s.
Before this match, we’d get two matches announced for AEW Rampage. Bryan Danielson will wrestle Trent Berrata, and Jon Moxley has a chance to test Wheeler Yuta. Yuta has the approval of Danielson & Regal, but needs to earn it from Moxley on Friday.
MJF would take commentary, and Spears would quickly take Dean down before stomping him on the face, and tossing him over the top rope. Back into the ring, Spears hit a pumphandle neckbreaker – before going for the C4. Wardlow would have taken down security, and would be coming for MJF & Spears. He’d get to the ringside area, and Shawn Dean got the roll up win!
Will MJF look for revenge on Wardlow? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
