The debut of Jeff Hardy in AEW was an incredible moment for fans, finally putting him alongside his brother Matt for one last run as a tag team. With the stacked tag team roster of AEW, many dream matches were set – and with only three hours of TV a week for AEW, not all of them were going to get equal spotlight. This meant that ending up on a show like AEW Dark: Elevation was inevitable, and The Hardys would recently face Top Flight on the program which airs on YouTube. Some fans took this poorly.
Matt Hardy Likes How Veterans & Legends Are Treated In AEW
Upon seeing this news, a twitter user would immediately look to compare this to WWE having Jeff Hardy wrestle on Main Event – a show taped before Monday Night RAW and aired in international regions. Fans had an issue with that, but not with Jeff Hardy working a match for AEW Dark: Elevation.
Matt Hardy would see this, and respond with the following.
“TK treats veterans/legend with the utmost respect & uses us the same. It’s refreshing. Tony asked us if we were ok being on & we were both happy to. We want to work with young stars like Top Flight. It’s a treat to work at AEW.”
AEW Needs Big Stars To Elevate These Shows
This is a pretty constant issue with some AEW fans. AEW Dark & Dark: Elevation are viewed as lesser programs, namely because major stars don’t show up on them often. However, when the likes of Adam Cole, Ruby Soho, Jay Lethal, or Jeff Hardy go on these shows – it’s viewed as a downgrade for them because these shows aren’t as important as Dynamite or Rampage.
AEW really can’t win in this sense, but fans in the arenas are just as hyped for the matches taped for Elevation as what fans see live on Dynamite. These matches have always been a bonus for fans around the world, and hopefully bigger matches find their way onto these shows more frequently.
The match with The Hardys taking on Top Flight will air tonight on the AEW YouTube channel. Do you think AEW should use more major stars on shows like AEW Dark? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
