Royal biographer Tina Brown has claimed that Queen Elizabeth backed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s resignation from the royal family. The royal expert disclosed that a reliable palace source told her that the Monarch approved their resignation because she sensed that the Sussexes were not pleased to be part of the royal family anymore.
However, Ms. Brown maintains that the Queen was “genuinely very conflicted.” She also disclosed that according to the palace source, the separation had to be done in an organized way to avoid a lot of bad feelings.
The Royal Family Saw The Split Coming
In her new book, The Palace Papers, Tina Brown has made some shocking revelations based on the information she obtained from a former royal source. She penned, “The family saw the split coming only months later, in the summer of 2019. They could all see how unhappy Harry and Meghan were.

Everybody was supportive of them leaving. But they wanted it done in an orderly way. And they also wanted it done in a way that set the right precedent. William’s got three kids. The precedent they set for this generation would affect his children. He’s very mindful of that.
So they wanted it done properly.” Ms. Brown also claims that Harry asked for himself and Meghan to resign from royal duties. However, she maintained that, according to the royal source, everything was facilitated “with acceleration from Meghan.”
The royal expert wrote, “I thought one of the best things that Meghan could do for Harry was to take him out of royal life because he was just so unhappy for so long. He needed a wife to come in and say, ‘actually, the best thing for you is that I take you out of this.'”
The Sussexes relinquished their royal roles over two years ago and have continued to live in America. Since then, Harry has only returned alone to the UK on two separate occassions. However, Meghan recently returned to the UK for the very first time when she and Harry stopped by to see the Queen. After the short meeting, the couple proceeded to the Netherlands for the Invictus Games.
