How Fred Savage’s On-Set Rage Got Him Fired From ‘Wonder Years’ Revival

Fred Savage has been axed from his executive producer and director roles on the new ‘Wonder Years’ reboot following several complaints of ‘misconduct’. It has now been revealed that it was Savage’s bad temper and angry on-set tirades that led to his firing.

Savage, who played Kevin Arnold on the original installment of ‘The Wonder Years,’ has a reputation for being ‘quick to anger’. The former child star allegedly has a short fuse and ‘can have a temper and occasional outbursts’ on set.

According to sources, Savage’s tendency to overshoot scenes creates a domino effect of tension while shooting productions. Crews are faced with more pressure, the entire cast and crew has to work longer hours and Savage ends up with ‘more opportunities to snap at people.’

The toxic work environment had proven to be too much for multiple people on set who filed complaints against Savage accusing him of misconduct. ‘He works his crews pretty hard by always doing more takes than necessary. Some directors just overshoot. Sometimes they feel like they didn’t get the performance or want to try another angle or things like that,’ said a source.

Fred Savage has been accused of inappropriate behavior on three different occasions throughout his career. A female crew member who worked on ‘The Wonder Years’ claimed to be the victim of verbal, physical, and sexual harassment at the hands of a then-16-year-old Savage in 1993. A costume designer named Youngjoo Hwang alleged that Savage assaulted and harassed her on the set of ‘The Grinder’ in 2018.

Hwang’s lawyer, Anahita Seda, has recently spoken out about the newest claims against Savage. ‘This was a long time coming and I am not the least bit surprised,’ she explained. ‘’When my client came to me in 2018 with her allegations against Mr. Savage, we discovered that there was at least one lawsuit that had been filed against him in the past and that Mr. Savage had allegedly engaged in this type of behavior not just towards my client but other women as well. It is unfortunate that it took my client speaking out and now reportedly these others before action was finally taken.’

In the 2018 lawsuit against Savage, Hwang made rather shocking claims against the actor. “Savage was known to intimidate, bully and torment female crew members while they were doing their job duties by yelling things like “I’m not a dog, quit f***ing following me,” “Don’t ever even f***ing look at me anymore,” and “Get the f*** away from me,” the legal docs stated.

Fred Savage was let go from ‘The Wonder Years’ reboot in early May. ‘Recently, we were made aware of allegations of inappropriate conduct by Fred Savage, and as is policy, an investigation was launched. Upon its completion, the decision was made to terminate his employment as an executive producer and director of ‘The Wonder Years,’ a spokesperson for ABC announced.
