Madonna, 63, has lashed out against Instagram after the app has banned her from going live following a series of explicit photos that she posted.
As the singer prepared to go live with her fans she was met with a notification saying that she was blocked from using the feature. According to Instagram, Madonna was found guilty of “going against Community Guidelines” and offered her a reminder not to ‘spam’ or ‘post nudity’.
Madonna Banned From Instagram Live After Breaking Rules With Nude Posts, Says She’s ‘Speechless’
“We’re going live” she said, before blurting out a stunned “what the f*ck?” when she discovered her banned status. The star then posted a video to Instagram expressing her outrage, stating, “We’re blocked from live? What’s happening? I’ve never worn so many clothes in my life. I’m speechless.”
“It’s weird,” she continued. “They’re being really mysterious about why, they’re not giving me a reason. It’s like a bureaucracy inside a computer.”
Madonna continued to take shots at the platform while asserting that she hasn’t broken any rules, saying, “I haven’t done anything lately, nothing crazy this week anyways. ‘I’m sorry to let everyone down, I was looking forward to this. I pledge allegiance to the censorship people.”
Madonna, who boasts over 18 million Instagram followers, has always had a reputation for dressing provocatively. She also has a history of feuding with Instagram over what kind of content is considered ‘acceptable’ to share.
In November, she posted a number of risque photos to Instagram only to have them removed. She then re-posted censored versions that covered her formerly-exposed body parts.
“I’m reposting photographs Instagram took down without warning or notification,” she said in a lengthy post that targeted the app’s rules regarding nudity. “The reason they gave my management that does not handle my account was that a small portion of my nipple was exposed.”
She then went on a tangent, saying, “It is still astounding to me that we live in a culture that allows every inch of a woman’s body to be shown except a nipple. As if that is the only part of a woman’s anatomy that could be sexualized. The nipple that nourishes the baby! Can’t a mans nipple be experienced as erotic ??!! And what about a woman’s a** which is never censored anywhere.”
She finished by further suggesting that she has been a lifelong victim of mistreatment, saying, “Giving thanks that I have managed to maintain my sanity through four decades of censorship…… sexism……ageism and misogyny.”
Do you think Madonna should be allowed to bare all on Instagram even though it goes against the app’s guidelines? Sound off in the comments!
