This past Sunday at Double or Nothing, fans finally saw someone who they were hoping to see for several months. Athena would show up to confront the TBS Champion Jade Cargill, who had just defeated Anna Jay. Tonight, Athena might not be in action, but she gets a chance to speak with Tony Schiavone, and properly kick her run in AEW off.
Athena Is Gunning For Jade Cargill
Coming out to a massive reaction, The Fallen Goddess was looking better than ever. A 15 year veteran, fans might remember her as Ember Moon on the roster of WWE. She’s finally All Elite, and is looking to meet the competition that comes in the AEW Women’s division. Athena firmly has her eyes on Jade Cargill, and is keen on breaking the winning streak.
Cargill would make her way out, flanked by Stokely Hathaway and the baddie section. Stokely would get the microphone, and shamed her for trying to make a name for herself at Double or Nothing off Cargill. Jade is a queen, a goddess, and Athena needs to work her way up to a title shot. Kiera Hogan & Red Velvet would step up, and Athena got aid from Anna Jay & Kris Statlander, and this might be a six man tag team match for AEW Rampage this Friday.
Wardlow Gets Served
Wardlow is finally free from his deal with MJF. He endured ten lashes of a belt, and a steel cage match with Shawn Spears, before finally destroying MJF at Double or Nothing 2022. Now officially part of the AEW roster, his previous record stands and puts him to a #1 spot in the mens singles division. JD Drake has a chance to be the man to stop Wardlow before he gets out of control, and potentially boost his ranking here tonight.
Finally without security and with his theme song, Wardlow hit the ring as a free man. Drake nailed a chop to start before being levelled with a lariat. Wardlow would hit a shoulder thrust into the corner, before the spinebuster. Powerbomb one would land, and the fans wanted more and got what they wanted. After two powerbombs, this one was already over.
Wardlow would try to cut a promo, before Mark Sterling would try to sue him on behalf of the security guard he was beating up for weeks. He responded by powerbombing another security guard and ripping up the papers – and feeding them to the guard. That man has a family!
