Johnny Depp’s career has already started to make a huge comeback…and now a campaign for Dior Sauvage men’s cologne featuring the actor has snagged a prime time slot following his victory in the defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard. Many have wondered if big businesses would be willing to work with him again after being accused of domestic abuse. But now that Depp has proven his innocence and reclaimed his reputation, the answer to that question is remarkably clear.
Dior has opted to capitalize on Johnny Depp’s recent resurgence in popularity by resurrecting an advertisement for men’s fragrance ‘Sauvage‘ that prominently featured Depp. The campaign is already being aired during coveted prime time slots and has been spotted during a recent episode of ‘MasterChef’, which airs Wednesday nights on FOX between 8-9 PM. The ad was shot years ago but had been virtually scrapped from seeing the light of day while Depp’s fate played out in court.
Johnny Depp’s Dior Cologne Ad Gets PRIME TIME Slot Following Huge Trial Victory
Depp originally partnered with Dior back in 2015 for the launch of Sauvage, which was brand new at the time. The fragrance was Dior’s first new cologne in ten years. Depp was specifically chosen for the campaign due to his “singularly authentic allure, tattooed arms and rock-jewelry-covered hands”. The product boasts an edgy, mysterious, and masculine vibe, and Johnny Depp was the ideal embodiment of those traits.
Speaking of the initial ad campaign back in 2015, a spokesperson for Dior described the ad by saying,“The enthralling brand film sees the new brand ambassador, Hollywood hero Johnny Depp, embrace a dramatic and mysterious look as he escapes the city to bury his jewelry in the desert. The creative perfectly achieves the balance of raw wildness with masculine sophistication that the fragrance emulates.”
Major beauty retailer Sephora also began utilizing the Dior Sauvage campaign featuring Johnny Depp back in May. As further proof that the people have spoken and Depp is back on top, sales for Sauvage have skyrocketed in recent months, making it one of the top-selling fragrances at both Sephora and Ulta. According to a source, “Sales are up and Dior has no plans to quit. Many fans are going out to buy the new cologne to show their support”.
Just in case you forgot…a jury found Amber Heard guilty of defaming ex-husband Johnny Depp in an op-ed she penned for The Washington Post in 2018. Heard was ordered to pay Depp $10.35 million in damages. Her lawyer already insisted that Heard doesn’t have that kind of money, but perhaps she will “pledge” the amount to Depp.
