Back in the summer of 2021, the recently much more famous actress Amber Heard shared information that she will be playing in the sequel of the Aquaman movie. She did so by sharing a photo on her Instagram profile where she had re-introduced her red hair once again. The fans and followers immediately know what this means. She got the Aquaman 2 role as Mera.
However, now after her infamous trial with her ex-spouse Johnny Depp, her starring in the movie is under a big question mark.
Amber Heard May Lose Role As Mera In Aquaman 2
The first to publish this information about her removal from the sequel comes from Hypebeast. As they state, the info they have comes from a reliable source in Warner Bros. The company will allegedly remove all scenes where the actress took place until now and replace her with someone else. This decision reportedly emerges in public during a short-notice meeting that the executives of the company held after the verdict.
However, since this information leaks, there are several theories circling on the internet regarding the matter. The first one is as we said, she will be replaced. The second one is suggested by The Direct. It suggests that they will not delete any scenes. Warner Bros’s plan is to make the character suffer death and to continue the movie without her.
“Walsh’s rumor suggests Mera may die during childbirth at the start of the sequel, but its upcoming test screening will be telling,”
This is not the first time that Warner Bros executives think about letting her go or at least reducing her role in the movie. There are some statements that appear even before her lawsuit with Johnny that suggest her ‘leaving’. Walter Hamada, the current president of the DC Films and Warner Bros once previously releases a statement regarding this.
“The size of the role in the film that she had was determined in the early development of the script, which would be in 2018. The character’s involvement in the story was sort of what it was from the beginning. From the early stages of the development of the script, the movie is building around the character of Arthur – Jason Momoa, and the character of Orm – Patrick Wilson.”
Finally, according to Amber Heard, this is true as well. She allegedly did see multiple versions of the script and her character does go through a reduction. However, it was not so prominent and strict as they claim it to be right now.
However, is this righteous? If she proves to be good in the role, what does the defamation lawsuit have to do with her acting? Yes, it is true that she lost a lot of fans worldwide. But not to the extent that they wouldn’t watch a movie if she is in it. What do you think? Is excluding her the correct thing to do?
