A month has already passed since the defamation trial between Depp and Heard. The judge and jury reached the verdict and told what was obvious since the beginning of the trial. Amber Heard lost and trial and is to pay $10 million to Johnny Depp for defamation.
However, she faces some additional charges and she might be in yet another legal trouble. Johnny Depp’s name is not into this as you might think. This time, Amber could face court, but in Australia. On the totally opposite side of the world.
Amber Heard Will Face International Dog Trafficking Charges
The legal dispute is not about something that happened currently, however, it is just now being revealed and investigated thoroughly.
Back in 2015, she allegedly made an illegal importation of her two dogs to Australia. And this is highly punishable in the “land down under”. Entertainment Tonight found out that the actress is currently under investigation by the Australian Authorities for the crime. The Department of Agriculture is taking a dive into documentation to take a better look at this.
Funny, but the trip took place in 2015 when she was traveling together with Johnny Depp. At the time he was still filming some scenes for the Pirates of the Caribbean.
Aside from her daughter, Amber Heard is a mommy to two Yorkshire Terriers, Pistol and Boo. She allegedly entered Australia without presenting any documentation for the registration of her pets. Other sources go to an extent that she did not even have legitimate documents, but falsified ones. Now, if that is the case, the trouble for the actress will be much greater.
As we said, Australia has a very strict policy for the import of animals into the country. Especially cats and dogs. This is to protect the vast species of local flora and fauna from exotic diseases. These entering requirements apply to pets that are born in Australia as well. Once they exit the country they need to fulfill all the requirements of the Australian Department of Agriculture and Water Resources to re-enter the country.
The evidence is piling up and the investigation is ongoing. This will decide whether the actress will receive some additional hits to her ‘savings’ after the Johnny Depp trial. If she is found guilty and there is solid evidence to prove it, she will indeed be in trouble.
The fines for this crime are not in gigantic numbers. For example for not registering a pet you may face a fine of around $6-7 000 AUD. However, in addition there is a jail time of a maximum of 10 years that makes the difference. When you combine several of these the number gets larger. It is nothing compared to the $10 million she needs to pay to Johnny Depp. But it is still a serious charge.
