Yoga instructor Kaitlin Armstrong, who was at the center of a manhunt earlier in the year, was captured in Costa Rica with her sister’s passport. She expedited back to Harris County, Texas where she was charged with the murder of professional cyclist Anna Wilson on May 11, 2022.
“Botox Bandit” Kaitlin Armstrong Arrested in Costa Rica – Charged with the First-Degree Murder of Cyclist Anna Wilson and Standing Botox Bill
On May 11, Armstrong shot and killed Anna Wilson who was dating Colin Strickland, another pro cyclist—and Armstrong’s ex-boyfriend. Wilson was competing in the Gravel Locos gravel cycling competition—a form of cycling that uses a gravel road instead of a paved path–in Hico, Texas.
She was staying with a friend in Austin where the fatal shooting occurred. Kaitlin Armstrong would go on the run with the police issuing a warrant for her arrest days later. By that time, she had already sold her vehicle for $12,000 and caught a flight from Austin to Houston.
Armstrong eventually ended up in Provincia de Puntarenas, Costa Rica using her sister’s passport to leave the country. The scorned ex was living at a hostel on San Teresa Beach at the time of her arrest.
In addition to the passport, she was also found with a receipt for plastic surgery. Following her extradition back to the States, she was put behind bars with her bail set at $3.5 million.
While the murder charge is the most severe charge that Kaitlin Armstrong faces, she is also on the hook for theft after she failed to cover a bill for Botox treatment years prior.
