Rapper NBA YoungBoy was found not guilty of illegal firearms possession in Los Angeles on July 15, 2022. Andre Belanger, the lawyer for the “Thug of Spades” artist, would confirm the verdict. The charge dates back to September 2020 when he was arrested along with others and hit with drug and gun charges. This arrest would come weeks after the release of his second album Top.
NBA YoungBoy Beats Federal Firearms Charge
He was later arrested again in March 2021 as federal authorities were executing a search warrant in relation to the September 2020 charges. NBA YoungBoy would lead the cops on a foot chase. When he was finally captured, he was charged with possession of a firearm after a search of his car turned up a gun.
In October 2021, YoungBoy was released on bail but was placed under home confinement until his firearms trial. Prior to his release, the Louisiana rapper would release Sincerely, Kentrell in September 2021 and deal with YouTube removing his videos. In discussing the trial’s conclusion with TMZ, the U.S Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles accepted the verdict:
“We believe the evidence presented in this case supported the charges brought by the grand jury. While we are disappointed with the verdict, we respect the jury’s decision.”
The verdict is definitely a huge victory for YoungBoy as fellow rapper and nemesis Pooh Shiesty has just been sentenced to a little over five years over his involvement in a 2020 shootout in Miami.
