With Thunder Rosa injured, we need someone to stand in as the AEW Women’s World Champion. Four of the top names in the company were chosen to battle for the Interim AEW Women’s World Championship tonight, with Hikaru Shida, Toni Storm, Jamie Hayter & Britt Baker getting the chance.
They all shared the ring for a tag team match on Dynamite – with Shida claiming the win, but with all alliances off the table, who will reign supreme? There’s two former AEW Women’s World Champions who would love to add to their legacies, while Storm & Hayter want their first taste of gold.
Hikaru Shida Taken To The Back After Jamie Hayter & Britt Baker Beat Her Down
Hayter & Baker would look to take Shida & Storm down as the bell rang, only for Storm & Shida to end up with the upper hand. Baker would try and pull Storm from the ring, only to be blindsided by Shida. In the ring, Baker would almost get the victory with a cradle pinfall.
Lockjaw would be applied to Shida as Hayter applied a single leg crab, with Storm breaking it up. Shida would throw a kick at the face of Baker, but missed and took the Slingblade. Baker would hit a slingblade on Storm, before Hayter suplexed both Storm & Shida – and following up with a double basement lariat.
Hayter was sent out to the floor and hit with a dive from Storm, before Baker would hit the slingblade. Shida would take her down, before going one on one with Storm in the ring. Storm would drive Shida down with a shoulder tackle, and Shida was asked to bring that same energy towards Storm.
Rebel would invade the ring and took a double headbutt from Shida & Storm, allowing for Hayter & Baker to take advantage. Shida was taken up the ramp and dumped onto the stage. The doctors would check Shida out and take her to the back, while Storm was strangled in the ring by Hayter.
Toni Storm Finds Her Chance
Storm would break free, and try to fight down the duo of Hayter & Baker. She’d get a near fall off of a crossbody, before a crazed Hikaru Shida would hit the ring with two kendo sticks. Unhinged, she would whack away at both ladies before stacking them in the corner. Shida would dropkick Baker into Hayter, before launching her in with a suplex. Hayter would be taken over the top rope with a superplex, before unsheathing The Katana.
The kick would miss, and Storm would hit the ring to kick Baker in the face. Hayter would hit the chokebreaker, before taking a Falcon Arrow from Shida. Storm broke it up, before being spiked by Hayter with the Tombstone. Shida would be hit with the Curb Stomp – but Shida kicked out.
Hayter would hit the ripcord lariat on Shida and had the win – but Baker pulled her from the ring. Storm would hit the Storm Zero – but Baker threw her from the ring, and Hayter was nearly pinned by her friend after getting stabbed in the back. She’d consider The Lockjaw, before Storm hit two DDT’s – and pinned Hayter to claim the belt!
Christian Cage Worked Everyone Again
Christian Cage thought that Jungle Boy would be his ticket to easy money, and that worked out for a while. Jurassic Express had a hefty reign as AEW World Tag Team Champions, but when it ended – Christian Cage tried to end Jungle Boy. He’d proceed to drag the dead father of Jungle Boy through the mud, and that was the last straw.
Jungle Boy returned with a fury, and tonight – Christian Cage needs to go one on one with his former protege. On his way to the ring, the mother of Jungle Boy would get Christian Cage with a slap to the face – and you can’t deny he’s earned that and more.
While the entrance song of Jungle Boy was fun, he’d be announced with that as just a nickname. He’s officially “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry – but he wouldn’t make it to the ring. Luchasaurus emerged from behind, and chokeslammed his former partner onto the pyro grid off the ramp. He wasn’t done either, and he’d carry him down to the ring for Christian Cage to get the easy victory.
We thought that Jack Perry & Luchasaurus were on the same page, but apparently Christian Cage was able to give a better offer. A powerbomb through the table would follow, and Perry was unable to get to his feet in the ring. He’d tried to pull himself up, and was run down with a spear. Perry kicked out, but was dropped with the Killswitch.
Will Jack Perry get his revenge? ? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
