WWE Alumni Val Venis Takes Meltdown Over Nyla Rose Winning The AEW Women's Championship

Nyla Rose made history in All Elite Wrestling this past Wednesday. She defeated Riho to become the AEW Women’s Champion, in what many consider to be the best match the division has ever had. This win made her the first transgender individual to win a major wrestling championship in the United States. While AEW themselves have not put a focus on this aspect of Nyla Rose, fans have. It has made her a very divisive wrestler, with people either loving her or wanting to see her taken out of action permanently. The title victory especially caused a stir, as suddenly everyone was aware of her the situation on hand. One such person who had lots to say was Sean Morely, best known as Val Venis in WWE.

Val Venis Goes On A Rant

Upon learning the news, Venis took to his Facebook page to rant about how he feels this is ruining an industry he once loved. He especially took issue with someone he views as still being a man winning a women’s championship, thinking it was an insult to what he views as real women who are working hard to get that spotlight. He made this clear with the following statement “When I turn on the mind numbing boob-tube to watch two women wrestle for the championship, I expect to see REAL WOMEN wrestling.” He also said the following “Today I identify as a Great Dane. Gonna enter the Westminster dog show and win the XL Dog title.”

This is the first time Val Venis has been a relevant topic in years, having quietly retired from wrestling and opening a marijuana dispensary.

There Has Been A Ton Of Support For Nyla Rose

Val Venis is just one of many echoing these same beliefs, but there are just as many celebrating this victory as there are trying to put her down. One person who stood up against all the hate is Dustin Rhodes. “Sick of this Trans fobia crap. My son is Trans and it saddens me to see so many hateful people on the attack! Get over yourselves and stfu! #KeepSteppin“ is what he had to say as he took to Twitter to stand up for Nyla Rose. Dustin Rhodes has had an impact on the view of LGBT representation in wrestling, as why he is straight, his character Goldust really pushed boundaries back when it debuted in the 90’s.

A wrestling fan practically since birth, who has been hooked since he got his first toy wrestling ring for Christmas as a child. Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
