Recently fans of Smackdown Live were treated to the return of The Celtic Warrior, Sheamus. He went back to his classic look, that of the man who upset John Cena and was pushed as a major star around the early 2010’s. With his old haircut and gear, he looked ageless from his debut. The one thing that was missing was his iconic theme song. This was intended to be part of his return to form, but it was denied by WWE.
WWE Claims It Was Outdated
Despite being a company who heavily leans of nostalgia, and bring back stars like Goldberg on a regular basis, they rejected this pitch from Sheamus. On an appearance on WWE The Bump, he was asked about his old music. He wants it back and has asked for it. WWE just didn’t budge. “So I actually wanted to have my original music back. I pushed for it, I pushed for it, but I was denied.” was what he had to say on this topic. He really wanted to use the song, but he was told that nobody would remember it and it’s “out dated.” This is despite the fact that fans have been wanting this theme song back ever since he switched to his new theme.
Can Sheamus Get His Theme Back If Fans Support Him?
Given that one of the reasons the pitch was rejected was due to a fear that fans wouldn’t remember the song, if fans showed the demand for this song to return, it could change minds. WWE might be a gigantic company, but they have bent to the demands of fans in the past. Getting a theme song back is a pretty minor issue, but it would be a quick way for them to get some respect back from fans who have been burned by WWE and their poor decisions in the past.
Sheamus also supported this method, encouraging fans to jump on Twitter and demand that WWE bring back his old music. He said that fans are the ones with the power. So, it’s up to us. Should this not work, his current theme is fine, but the old one is crucial to truly bringing The Celtic Warrior back.
Do you think WWE should bring back Sheamus’s old entrance music, or is it something that isn’t an issue to anyone but Sheamus? Let us know what you think in the comments down below.
