Migos Member Takeoff Shot and Killed in Houston at Age 28
According to authorities, the incident occurred after 2:30 AM at 810 Billiards & Bowling Houston. Takeoff was there with his uncle and fellow Migos member Quavo shooting dice. Earlier, they were hanging out with Houston-area music label owner Jas Prince and celebrating his birthday.
A dispute occurred and shots were fired with one hitting Takeoff. In video from the shooting, the group around Takeoff and Quavo are trying to figure out how to help the fallen “Bad and Boujee” artist. There is an attempt to move him but he is placed back on the ground and Quavo calls for help.
Emergency services finally arrived but the Atlanta rapper was declared deceased. Two others were shot at the game room but their conditions weren’t disclosed. Quavo wasn’t injured in the incident. Hours before the shooting Takeoff posted a picture of himself lighting up outside of the billiards hall.
Takeoff—born Kirsnik Khari Ball—formed Migos with Quavo and his cousin Offset in 2008. The trio came up in Atlanta’s emerging trap scene alongside the likes of Future and Trinidad James in the late 2000s and early 2010s. They were known for hit songs such as “Bad and Boujee”, “Motorsport”, and “Deadz”.
In recent times, the future of Migos has been up in the air because of a dispute putting Offset against Quavo and Takeoff. As a result, the duo formed a new group called Unc & Phew. The two dropped the video for their song “Messy” on Halloween. At the time of his death, Takeoff was 28-years-old.
