Mark Ruffalo, best known for his role as The Hulk slams Elon Musk about his announced changes on Twitter. Elon Musk took over Twitter and, as expected, attracted much criticism on himself. However, his long-term plans for the social media platform are not resonating with celebrities and most of the left political wing in the USA.
The Tesla CEO went back and forth with the purchase of the social media and finally acquired it at the agreed price of $44 billion. Reportedly, after stepping into Twitter’s CEO position, he immediately fired three of the top Twitter executives. In addition to this, he announced that he won’t hesitate to fire about 75% of the company’s employees. However, he decided to go with the layoffs gradually.
Mark Ruffalo Not Impressed By Elon Musk’s Announced Twitter Changes
One of the most controversial and unusual announcements that Musk made was the implementation of an $8 surcharge if people want their accounts to be verified. But, this did not resonate with most of the celebrities on the platform.
“While I have your attention.” – Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. “Why should people pay eight dollars just for their app to get bricked when they say something you don’t like? This is what my app has looked like ever since my tweet upset you yesterday. What’s good? Doesn’t seem very free speechy to me.”
The tweets about this change are in the millions. People get into arguments and strongly oppose Elon Musk’s moves. The last one to get into a ‘feud’ with the billionaire was the American actor Mark Ruffalo.
“Elon. Please – for the love of decency – get off Twitter.” – Ruffalo tweeted. “Hand the keys over to someone who does this as an actual job, and get on with running Tesla and SpaceX. You are destroying your credibility. It’s just not a good look.”
Elon Musk didn’t take long to reply. “Hot take: not everything AOC says is 100% accurate.” – he replied.
“Maybe so. That’s why having robust filters for dis/misinformation & credible verified users has been a popular feature for people & advertisers alike. We need those safeguards to make sure it’s accurate information, or the app loses credibility, as do you. And people leave.” – Mark Ruffalo hit back.
While celebrities and politicians slam Elon Musk for his moves, there are people who support him as well.
The logic behind the $8 surcharge is that Elon Musk doesn’t want to divide the Twitter users to ‘royalty’ and ‘common people’. That’s why he allows everybody willing to pay $8 to have the possibility to have a blue checkmark on his account. Do you agree with Musk on this one?
