In a case made for Snapped or Deadly Women, a former Playboy model accused of beating her boyfriend to death with a baseball bat and tossing his body in a trunk has entered a plea deal in Nevada.
Ex-Playboy Model Enters Plea Deal for the March 2019 Baseball Bat Murder of Boyfriend in Las Vegas
The murder dates back to March 2019 when 71-year-old psychiatrist Thomas Kirk Burchard left his home in California to visit his girlfriend, Kelsey Turner (29) in Las Vegas. Turner, a former model in Playboy Italia and Maxim, had her lifestyle and spending covered by Burchard.
However, the 71-year-old had enough of doing so and was planning to confront her about not supporting her anymore. It’s unknown if Turner conspired to kill Burchard beforehand with her other boyfriend, Jon Logan Kennison, and roommate Diana Pena but when the psychiatrist arrived, he was struck with a bat sometime after.
After his death, Burchard was stuffed into the trunk of a Mercedes-Benz C300 and abandoned. When authorities found the victim’s body, the murder weapon was inside the trunk as well.
According to Pena, the plan was to take Burchard to the hospital but Kennison was ordered to “knock Thomas out.” She also claimed that Turner was upset with Burchard after she found images on his phone. Diana Pena pleaded guilty to accessory to murder in June 2019.
Kennison pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in July 2022 and was given 45 years in prison. While Kelsey Turner maintained her innocence, she eventually entered an Alford plea on November 9.
This means she will possibly be found guilty of second-degree murder without pleading guilty.
Currently, Turner is being held in the Clark County Jail and has a sentencing hearing slated for January 10, 2023. She is looking at 10 to 25 years in prison.
