Swerve In Our Glory aren’t ready to give up after tasting defeat at AEW Grand Slam and losing the AEW World Tag Team Championships to The Acclaimed. They would get the win over FTR to be named the number one contenders, and tonight we get the third match between The Acclaimed & Swerve In Our Glory. Swerve Strickland has done everything possible to stack the deck in their favour, injuring Billy Gunn and potentially Anthony Bowens – much to the dismay of Keith Lee. Regardless, when the bell rings they gel as a team – and tonight is a chance to prove this.
The Acclaimed Have Three Good Arms Tonight
Bowens would start fast with a rolling elbow to the jaw of Lee, before almost being taken into the spirit bomb. Caster would make the save, before hitting a dropkick and scoop slam on Swerve before the Scissor Me Timbers would land. Bowens would keep the elbow smashes to the side of the head coming, before Lee would tag in and chop Bowens down with ease – damage to the shoulder from the recent singles match against Swerve clear.
Swerve would go after a barricade to ringside, setting it up by the ring. Lee wouldn’t agree with this, but wouldn’t have a chance to argue as Bowens started striking – cutting him down with Grizzly Magnum. Swerve would try to suplex Bowens onto the barricade, but Bowens was able to counter.
Lee would work over the injured arm of Bowens, hitting a standing splash right onto the arm. Bowens. Big elbows to the shoulder kept the punishment coming, before Swerve received the tag and punched him in the jaw. Bowens would take a running stomp to the shoulder, before Lee was tagged back in to keep the pressure on.
Caster would get the tag and tried to hit the FU on Lee, but the size of Lee was simply too much. Lee would hit the double handed chop in the corner, before Caster was able to cut him down with the Fame Asser. Swerve would take the FU – but was able to kick out. Bowens got the tag, and was able to keep up with Swerve – hitting a dropkick on the apron.
Keith Lee Does The Right Thing
Lee would stop Swerve from crashing through the guard rail, only for Caster to drive him through with a crossbody. Bowens would hit the twisting DDT off the ropes, getting a two count. Swerve was able to recover, hitting the House Call kick for a near fall. Two more kicks would follow, with Bowens barely able to survive.
After a third, Bowens was running on fumes – but had enough to block the Swerve Stomp. Bowens nailed The Arrival, before Caster would fly in with the Mic Drop – with Lee just there to make the save. Magic Killer would be blocked by Swerve kicking the shoulder of Bowens, before hitting a brainbuster.
Lee would rush in with a series of lariats, before The Fall From Glory would land on Caster – who somehow kicked out despite the weight of Lee on top of him. Spirit Bomb would be briefly blocked, with Bowens getting the tag, only to have Caster powerbombed onto him. At ringside, Caster was threatened with grip pliers – with Billy Gunn making the save.
In the ring, Lee would throw the plier away – saying he can’t win that way. Swerve In Our Glory went to blows, with Swerve slapping and berating Lee – and Lee deciding to leave Swerve to fight alone. Bowens would roll Swerve up for two, before taking a superkick. JML Driver was blocked and Caster got the tag – hitting a springboard dropkick. Sitout driver would follow – and The Acclaimed remain AEW World Tag Champions!
