Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) announced that it busted up a drug trafficking ring based out of Guelmim. Not only that, the organization seized two tons of marijuana in the process.
Authorities In Morocco Destroy Drug Trafficking Ring and Seize 2 TONS of Marijuana
The judicial police and General Directorate of National Territorial Surveillance teamed up on this operation which focused on the production and distribution of marijuana and shira—a local name for marijuana resin.
In all, the joint task force seized 120 kilograms of shira and two tons of marijuana across 55 packages. Also seized were an inflatable boat, seafaring equipment, satellite phones, and cash. Five traffickers were arrested and ranged between 24 and 44 years of age.
While a major ring was busted, this raid was a part of a larger investigation into marijuana trafficking in Morocco.
Also, this is just another step in this particular operation as some deeper digging and interviews could break other operations in the investigation in a way similar to the recent super cartel bust involving the Tito and Dino Cartel.
