On Monday morning, a female burglar was caught going through actor, Robert De Niro’s Upper East Side townhouse. The burglar was caught grabbing Christmas gifts from under the tree and playing with his iPad, law enforcement sources reported to The Post.
Shanice Aviles Is A Known Burglar Who Has Been Arrested 26 Times
The “known burglar,” Shanice Aviles, 30 broke into the Hollywood actors home around 2:30 a.m. According to reports, Officers with the NYPD’s 19th Precinct public safety team caught her trying to open doors to commercial buildings before she finally found her way into De Niro’s home. A police official told The Post, “She was stealing Christmas presents.”

He also added that there was no interaction between the burglar and the Hollywood actor. The 79-year-old “Casino” star and his daughter were upstairs when this was happening, and they didn’t know what was going on in their home, sources reported.
The police busted the burglar, who has been arrested 26 times prior to this, at the scene, and charges were pending earlier in the morning. Aviles started burgling during the coronavirus pandemic, sources shared. Between November 25 and December 8, she was picked up for seven burglaries on the Upper East Side, the sources added.
Page Six reached out to De Niro’s reps, but they didn’t immediately return the outlet’s request for comment. De Niro has been a resident of New York for a very long time. In 2012, the actor sold his West Village townhouse of 37 years for $9.5 million.
At the height of the pandemic, the Hollywood star relocated to his upstate New York home. “He intends to reside in Gardiner for the foreseeable future,” his attorney Caroline Krauss said of the “Goodfellas” actor, who grew up in Manhattan — at the time. “He is after all 76 and in the category of people for which COVID-19 is dangerous.”
