In 2022, we saw the end of WWE’s first attempt to break into the lucrative European market with NXT UK. The brand leaves behind a strong legacy, but with most of the UK based talent released or moved to Florida and little to no news about NXT Europe this year, the future isn’t exactly looking bright. One name who wasn’t on the released list was Jinny, but we can’t bank on seeing her make her way to TV again anytime soon – as she’s chosen to retire from the industry.
Jinny Announces She’s Hanging Up Her Fashionable Boots
Taking to Twitter to update fans on her WWE status, Jinny would announce that she is retiring from the ring.
“After a long time away due to an injury, I have made the decision to hang up my fashionable boots.
Thank you for all the memories. I’ll remember them forever.
Every journey has an end, but in life, every ending is just a new beginning. I’m excited about what’s next.”
Jinny last wrestled in November of 2021, facing French born WWE superstar Amale. Her last major match in the company was against Meiko Satomura for the NXT UK Women’s Championship. Jinny was unsuccessful in ending the reign of Satomura, before the belt would be unified with the NXT Women’s Championship by Mandy Rose.
A Lasting Legacy From Her Time As A Top Heel In The UK
While Jinny was never able to claim a major championship in WWE, her legacy in the UK indie scene as the top female heel in Progress Wrestling will last for a while. Add in that she was a nearly universally beloved behind the scenes by just about anyone she shared a locker room with, and her time in the industry will be looked back on fondly.
Outside of the ring, Jinny is married to current WWE Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER, who recently defended his championship successfully against former WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman on the latest episode of Smackdown Live.
