In another shock, NXT also run weekly live shows like the main roster does. As a wrestling fan, I knew that they ran house shows but not as many. Here are some things that I found out about NXT by looking at their live show cards.
When Does NXT Run Their Live Shows
From what I can see, NXT run their live shows every Friday and Saturday. With NXT being WWE’s developmental brand, these live shows are a way to get the talent used to working in front of a live crowd.
It seems that for the most part, they only run live events in smaller cities around Florida. This is good because it gives the young talent, especially the ones that have never worked the indies, a taste of what being on the road in WWE means.
When I was looking at the main roster’s live show schedule, it looked like Smackdown on Friday, live shows on Saturday and Sunday, then Raw on Monday.
While this case isn’t the same as the main roster because in main roster tend to have four shows on consecutive days in different states, it is better than not traveling at all in the first place.
I also think that it might help draw people from the surrounding areas to Orlando to actually catch an NXT event on Wednesday, live.
What I Noticed When I Looked at the Cards
The main thing that stood out to me the most is that Damon Kemp loses a lot. When I say that, I mean that it got to the point where I thought that it was a joke. I looked further back in the cards and he only won one match while being on every card twice a week for around two months.
This surprised me because I always thought that he was someone that NXT wanted to make into a big deal and feature more on the shows.
After taking a step back and looking at it, I came to one of three conclusions about it.
One, and the one that I think is most likely, he is getting ready to come to the main roster. His brother, Gable Stevenson, got picked by Monday Night Raw whenever the last draft happened. He might be going to Raw to team with his brother.
Kemp has way more in ring experience than his brother and I think that the idea would be for him to carry Stevenson until get gets his legs in the ring under himself.
Two, I think that he might have gotten into some backstage heat and this is their way of punishing him. This seems to been going on for a while though, so I doubt that this may be the reason.
Lastly, he might be getting ready to get released, which I also doubt because there are MANY other people in NXT that I could see probably getting released instead of Kemp.
Something else that I noticed is that there was one time that Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams teamed up with Jakara Jackson in a mixed six-man tag match. Looking too deep into it, I would think that there is a possibility that she could be put with the act when they come to the main roster.
Another interesting tag team that I saw was Channing Lorenzo teaming with someone named Antonio De Luca. While this might be nothing, it could also be a new member of the D’Angelo Family.
Lastly, Axiom gets a lot of matches and victories on the live shows. Either he is just a huge fan favorite, or he is in line for a big push attempt sometime soon.
