It seems like ages ago that Keith Lee & Swerve Strickland were the dominant AEW World Tag Team Champions. Swerve In Our Glory were one of the best tag teams of 2022, but an uneasy alliance between Lee & Swerve was not going to last forever. They would officially break up during Ring of Honor Final Battle 2022, when Swerve walked out on Lee during a match against Shane Taylor & JD Griffey. Swerve would take Lee out alongside his new allies Trench & Parker Boudreaux – but on the latest episode of AEW Rampage – made his heroic return.
Keith Lee Saved Dustin Rhodes From A Two On One Beating
The bloody main event of AEW Rampage saw Swerve Strickland face the legendary Dustin Rhodes, with the match ending in a rare DQ when Parker Boudreaux would attack Rhodes. Rhodes had Swerve beat with The Final Reckoning, with Parker pulling Rhodes from the ring and driving him into the steel steps.
Alongside Swerve, they would look to keep the beating coming after the bell – only for The Limitless One to rush the ring to make the save, fighting off Swerve & Parker alongside fellow Texas native Dustin Rhodes. Lee had shaved his beard and freshly buzzed his head, but showed he was easily able to take down Swerve & Parker.
Lee Was A Top Singles Prospect Before Coming To AEW
With AEW Revolution just around the corner, we are very likely to see Swerve & Lee involved in a big singles grudge match. The card for Revolution is rapidly filling up, but given the history of Lee & Swerve – this is absolutely a PPV level match. Lee came into AEW as one of the top singles prospects in professional wrestling, and many were wondering why he ended up in a tag team.
Now, fans will have a chance to see the singles glory of Keith Lee, who once held both the WWE NXT & NXT North American Championships at the same time. Swerve needed some more build up before this match could finally happen, and his run since taking out Lee has seen him claim plenty of big singles victories – with fans now wondering if Swerve is ready to chase singles gold in AEW or Ring of Honor.
This has the potential to be one of the best told stories on AEW Revolution, as well as one of the best matches. Do you think Swerve Strickland can defeat Keith Lee at AEW Revolution? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
