At Ring of Honor: Final Battle, FTR would lose the ROH World Tag Team Championships to The Briscoes in a violent Double Dog Collar match. However, it was an attack after the bell from The Gunns that really hurt the pride of FTR. They made it clear that they would be looking for revenge, and tonight FTR finally meet The Gunns in tag team action.
FTR Get Outgunned By The Ass Boys
Dax Harwood would kick things off with Colton Gunn, with FTR clearly not at 100% after their recent war with FTR. A clubbing blow to the back would cause Harwood to stagger, and forced a tag to Wheeler. Two atomic drops would follow, before Wheeler would use Colton to nail Austin Gunn with a series of hip attacks in the corner, before FTR would send them to the floor with some lariats.
A brawl on the floor would favour FTR, with Austin thrown face first into the timekeepers table. Wheeler would nail some quick jabs on Colton in the ring, before Austin would run a distraction allowing for Colton to hit the dropkick. The Gunns would take control of the match, as the crowd would chant “Ass Boys” to try to get in their head.
Austin would apply a rear chinlock in the middle of the ring, with Wheeler fighting to his feet and using the corner to break the hold. Wheeler would avoid a diving splash from Colton to get the tag to Harwood, who would run Colton down with a lariat before looking for the Sharpshooter on Austin.
Harwood would avoid a spike piledriver on the floor before Austin would tease a superkick and instead would try to set up the Sharpshooter. Wheeler would break Harwood free, but Harwood would be unable to hit the piledriver due to damage to his hip from Final Battle. An O’Connor Roll would be blocked by Austin, who got some extra leverage from Colton. This is the third loss in a row for FTR, a bad streak for sure.
Swerve Strickland Gets Some Help In Taking Keith Lee Down
It’s clear that after Swerve Stickland walked out on Keith Lee at Final Battle, that Swerve In Our Glory is finished. They’ve had a rocky few months, but that seemed to be the last straw. Tonight, Lee & Swerve are set to meet face to face – which might finally see them go to blows. Rick Ross would be here to mediate the meeting, and he’d be clearly in support of Swerve Stickland – calling him a young legend, before exclaiming that Lee is a “big motherfucker”.
Swerve would say he’s going to start doing things on his own time. Alongside Lee, they should have run AEW – but he couldn’t get on the same page as Lee. Too many false accusations. Lee couldn’t keep his eye on the ball, the tag team championships, or even his health. Swerve would warn Lee to keep eyes in the back of his head, before Parker Boudreaux would attack Lee from behind.
Lee would be able to take Parker down, even a blindside attack not enough to take him down. An unknown attacker would follow, with even Excalibur not knowing who this was. Parker would help set up the steel steps, before Swerve would nail the Swerve Stomp through a cinderblock.
