Last week, Chris Jericho would accept the open challenge of Ricky Starks for AEW Revolution. Peter Avalon tried to accept, but was dropped with a Judas Effect before he could even hit the ring. Tonight, Jericho has accepted a match with Avalon, who is looking to settle a grudge as he gets a rare match on AEW Dynamite against a legend.

Chris Jericho Gets Last Laugh Ahead Of AEW Revolution

Avalon would start fast, taking Jericho down with a double leg takedown with some rabid punches following. He would sent Jericho to the floor and keep the pressure on with a lariat, before keeping the pressure on with a suicide dive. Jericho was driven head first into the steel steps, and this was looking like the last tune up match that Jericho had in AEW – where Action Andretti got the upset.

A swinging DDT out of the corner would get a near fall, with Avalon nearly getting the victory. He’d take a moment to taunt, and it just took one Codebreaker to get the victory. A legend like Jericho can win with just one move – having more finishers than some people have moves. After the bell, Jericho would beat Avalon with his trusty baseball bat, prompting Ricky Starks to make the save – running Jericho off from the ring with ease.

Jericho grabbed a microphone and promised to beat the hell out of Starks on Sunday, and he’ll do it one on one that night. The Jericho Appreciation Society is banned on Sunday, but not tonight. Jake Hager & Daniel Garcia would join Jericho in a three on one beatdown, ending with a massive Judas Effect.

Christian Cage Doesn’t Need To Dig His Own Grave – Jack Perry Did It For Him

Christian Cage has unfinished business with Jack Perry. He thought he was done with his former protege, but the thought of Perry winning a singles title in AEW before him drove him mad. Perry lacks the killer instinct to become a champion, and he showed that last night when he hesitated to take Christian out.

Christian knows why Perry wants to win a belt – and that’s to get praise some his family and friends. That’s not what Christian wants, as he knows this business is about money – and he’s not even close to bleeding Tony Khan dry yet. He would challenge Perry to a fight this Sunday, where Christian will either pull the grit out of Perry – or leave him a broken man.

Perry would appear on the screen, with a video recorded of him digging a grave. It was marked for Christian Cage – showing how far Perry is intending to go this Sunday at AEW Revolution.

HOOK Earns His Date With Stokely Hathaway

Since winning the FTW Championship, HOOK has been truly tested as a professional wrestler. The likes of Angelo Parker & Lee Moriarty pushed the rookie hard, but were unable to hand him his first defeat. Tonight, HOOK faces his most experienced challenger to date in Matt Hardy. Hardy might be nearing the end of his in-ring career, but is a former World Champion and man who has been wrestling for as long as HOOK has been alive. Knowing he doesn’t have many title shots left in his career – Hardy will be doing everything possible to make this one count.

Another stipulation was added to this mat, being the if HOOK wins – he gets Stokely Hathaway in a No DQ match with the firm banned from ringside. HOOK would try to take this match to the mat, only for Hardy to throw some strikes – dropping HOOK with a shoulder tackle. Hardy would take some time to taunt, only for HOOK to grab a kneebar – with Hardy sending the champion to the floor.

On the floor, Ethan Page managed to shove HOOK into the ring post, allowing Hardy to get the upperhand. A neckbreaker would land in the ring, with Hardy unable to follow up before taking a T-Bone Suplex, with HOOK following up with a Northern Lights Suplex attempt but it was blocked. The Side Effect would follow, getting Hardy a near fall.

HOOK would take a shoulder to the nose, and Page would use the cast of Stokely to knock HOOK out. This was not enough to get Hardy the win, but Twist of Fate was next. HOOK blocked into Redrum, and instantly Hardy tapped out – and Stokely was terrified.

Toni Storm Takes On Former AEW Women’s World Champion Riho

We’re just a few short days away from AEW Revolution, where Toni Storm will be in the corner of Saraya for the Triple Threat match over the AEW Women’s World Championship. While she will be hoping her friend wins the gold, Storm is also looking to remain in the title hunt – and tonight has a chance to put herself first in line for whoever walks away as champion, as she faces another former champion in Riho.

Storm would rush Riho as this match began, beating her into the corner before throwing her across the ring. Riho would avoid a scoop slam, and hit a series of forearm smashes – before sending Storm off the ropes. Storm would be hit with a dropkick, and Saraya would run a distraction – allowing Storm to regain control with a knee strike.

Riho would not stay on the defensive for long, rolling Storm into a double stomp in the middle of the ring for a two count. A crossface would be applied, but Storm found the bottom rope. Saraya would get a cheap shot on the floor, with this looking more like a handicap match. Jamie Hayter & Britt Baker came to ringside, evening the odds.

A Preview Brawl Ahead Of Revolution

Storm would apply a rear chinlock in the middle of the ring, before switching to chops in the corner. Riho was ready to trade heavy strikes, only to take a snap suplex. Storm was dropped with a headscissor takedown, before Riho looked for the 619 – but was unable to follow through as Storm blocked, only to follow up with a crossbody top the floor.

Back in the ring, Storm would almost hit a second rope Storm Zero – almost taking a powerbomb instead. Shotgun dropkick and running hip attack would get a two count, and Texas Cloverleaf would almost get the finish, with Baker distracting Storm, allowing for a roll up finish.

Storm & Baker would battle at ringside, as Saraya, Hayter & Ruby Soho who rushed the ring brawling in the middle of the ring. Soho would not pick a side, choosing to stand by herself a few days away from AEW Revolution.
