The Owen Hart Memorial Cup kicked off last night on AEW Rampage – with Skye Blue defeating Anna Jay. Tonight, the women’s tournament continues as the NJPW Strong Women’s Champion Willow Nightingale faces the former AEW Women’s World Champion Nyla Rose.

This is just the first match of Willow’s weekend, also being set to face Toni Storm during Forbidden Door. A win tonight would set her up well to potentially become a double champion, and get one step closer to a tournament win.

Willow Nightingale Battles Nyla Rose In A Hard Hitting Brawl

Rose is used to being the strongest woman in a ring, but Willow is someone who is able to match her power – and the opening lock up was a stalemate.

A heavy shoulder tackle would take Rose down, before Willow was caught by some smart wrestling with a cradle pinfall for a two count. Rose would throw Willow across the ring, but she would cartwheel and come back with a strike.

Willow tried for some strikes in the corner, but was halted by Rose briefly. A shotgun dropkick got past the block of Rose, who would roll to the floor.

Rose would get some aid from Marina Shafir, and when the crowd would disapprove of this – she called them ‘mooselickers’. Back in the ring, Rose would press the advantage with some strikes and stretching the arm, forcing Willow to fight back to her feet.

Willow would manage to regain the advantage, whipping Rose across the ring for a jumping hip attack. The damage to the left arm would show it’s worth, as Willow was unable to use the Babe With The Powerbomb, her go-to finisher.

Rose would hit a front suplex, getting a near fall. Willow would respond with a Pounce and another attempt at the Babe With The Powerbomb – landing it for the victory.

After the bell, The Outcasts would surround the ring ahead of Forbidden Door, but Willow got aid from Skye Blue with a steel chair – ensuring no post match attack. Willow still has a fast turnaround before her next match, but things could have ended up worse.

Scorpio Sky Is Ready To Show Everyone Who He Really Is

We’d catch up with Scorpio Sky backstage – making his return via video package. However, he would say that when he finally got his big break in AEW, he lost his way. Big success would cloud his mind, making him a shadow of his former self.

Despite that, he would become the first AEW World Tag Team Champion, the first Face of The Revolution Ladder Match winner, and a multi-time TNT Champion. Sky did all that while not showing his true potential, but intends to show everyone who he truly is now.

Powerhouse Hobbs Crushes A Canadian Indy Veteran

Powerhouse Hobbs is set to be one of the major stars of AEW Collision – and is looking to win the 2023 Owen Hart Memorial Cup. With his first round match against Dustin Rhodes coming up soon, Hobbs has a chance to tune his skills up here tonight with his Collision debut.

The former TNT Champion has not been seen on TV since losing the belt, but looks to send a major message. With QT Marshall by his side, and Johnny TV as a new ally – Hobbs could be more dangerous than ever before.

Hobbs would be met by a 19 year veteran from the Montreal scene, Jeremy Prophet. Hobbs would run him down with a body block, before some stiff back elbow strikes in the corner. Prophet would get some weak chants from the crowd, before being lifted into a powerslam.

He slipped free and tried for a roll up, but Hobbs stopped him in his tracks before some heavy lariats. Prophet was asked to get up, and was launched right into a spinebuster for the victory.

Hobbs is looking great, and could well write the final chapter in the career of Rhodes next week – it’d fit well into the Book of Hobbs.
