There have been few professional wrestlers more dominant in their careers than GUNTHER. The Ring General has been a dominant force all around the world, and when he signed with WWE – that remained the same.
His time in NXT UK saw him go undefeated for years as NXT UK Champion, and when he hit Smackdown Live, he quickly defeated Ricochet to become the WWE Intercontinental Champion.
Now close to breaking the record set by the Honky Tonk Man in the 1980’s, some are wondering what is next for him – but The Miz has a good idea.
GUNTHER Has Made The Intercontinental Championship Relevant Again
Speaking to CombicBook Nation, The Miz would talk about the dominant reign of GUNTHER as WWE Intercontinental Champion.
“I think he’s doing with the Intercontinental Championship what exactly he should be doing with it and that is making it relevant, making it prestigious, being involved in meaningful storylines and making it mean something. He is at a level now where if he dropped the title, he’s in a mix for a WWE Championship and that’s what I always felt that title was supposed to be, not necessarily a stepping stone, but it was a title that builds you and builds you until you’re almost level with the World Heavyweight Championship.
Once that title is dropped, or you can even go and have two titles, the world title and the Intercontinental. So I think he’s doing a great job. Who will unseat him? You’ve got Drew McIntyre going for it, he’s a very viable person. I remember back in the pandemic era, he was unstoppable in a WWE ring, except for me. I beat him for the WWE Championship, second reign. But who’s counting?”
Putting things in perspective, GUNTHER has been champion for 409 days with one reign. The Miz has held the belt 8 times, and has a combined 592 days as champion.
Fans are expecting GUNTHER to break the 452 day record before losing the belt to McIntyre – and then entering a feud with WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins.
