Christian Cage is now officially the TNT Champion – but needs to prove to the world he deserves to carry the belt. Tonight, he enters a classic professional wrestling match against two time TNT Champion Darby Allin – and one pinfall won’t be enough to end it.
This one is being held under Best Two Out Of Three Falls match, with Luchasaurus banned from ringside. Cage needs to show why he’s a professional wrestling legend, and defeat Allin twice in his hometown.
Darby Allin Pulls Ahead With Smart Early Fall
Allin was fired up as this match began, ready to give the performance of his career in his first AEW PPV main event.
Cage would be taken down to the mat with a wrist clutch, but was able to find the bottom rope – allowing the clean break. Allin would get a deep armdrag, and went back to the wrist of Cage.
Cage would try to wrestle free, but ended up in a side headlock instead. Finally breaking free, Allin would be put on the ropes by Cage – and had a boot pressed into his throat.
Cage was calm in this main event spot, and a stiff chop would be followed by an attempt at the KillSwitch. Allin would block, and pulled the turtleneck of Cage over his eyes before the Jackknife Pinfall – scoring the first fall of the match.
Cage is now needing two straight falls, and would take a moment to regroup. Allin would be beaten into the corner, Cage done trying to out wrestle Allin – and trying to simply beat him into the mat.
Heavy strikes in the corner would follow, before a tight neck crank in the middle of the ring. Allin would fight free before sending Cage to the apron.
Allin swung at Cage and missed before taking a Reverse Hotshot. Cage came off the top rope with a diving headbutt, but missed and took a Code Red – nearly losing the match as Allin caught him off guard.
Allin would be thrown out to the floor and into the barricade, before Cage was distracted by the mother of AEW star Nick Wayne. She would lure Cage in, throw a drink in his face – and allowed Allin to hit a high speed dive.
Christian Cage Wants To End The Career Of Allin
Back in the ring, Cage would be set up for the Coffin Drop – but Cage got his knees up. Cage would set up Allin on the apron, and sent him crashing out to the announce table.
Allin would be down as Cage set up the steel steps by the ramp, only to nearly send Cage onto them. Instead, he ran into an eye poke – and was thrown to the floor with a release suplex before a suplex right onto the steps.
A third blow would follow, with a scoop slam off the apron and into the steps. Allin was unable to answer the referee’s ten count, and the second fall of the match came from a count out. A stretcher would be brought to ringside, and Cage would be tearing up the padding on the ring at the same time.
His intentions were to end this match, and perhaps the career of Allin if that is what it takes. With the boards exposed and Allin on the Stretcher, Cage would hit the Frog Splash.
Cage would be berated by the referees and ringside doctors, before rolling Allin into the ring. Allin would rise as Cage stalked from the corner.
Killswitch on the exposed pine boards would follow, and somehow Allin was able to kick out. The Spear would be avoided, but Allin would end up in the Scorpion Deathlock.
Cage tried to add insult to injury, but Allin would find the bottom rope. Allin would gouge the eyes of Cage before hitting a Scorpion Death Drop. Coffin Drop would follow, but only got a near fall.
Nick Wayne Makes A Career Altering Choice – Adam Copeland Comes To The Aid Of Sting & Allin
Another attempt at a Coffin Drop would be stopped, as Cage shoved the legs. A superplex to the steel steps on the floor was now planned, but Allin would prevent this – only to take a Sunset Flip Powerbomb onto the exposed boards. The spear would land, but hit the referee instead of Allin – taking Bryce Remsburg out.
Cage would hit the low blow, knowing that this match now had no one to call for the DQ. Trying to use the TNT Championship, the belt was stolen by Nick Wayne – who would look to help Allin out.
Allin called for Wayne to hit Cage, but instead took the shot to the face instead. This betrayal shocked even the mother of Wayne – Cage apparently having gotten into the head of Wayne at some point.
The referee was pulled over, and Cage would score the deciding pinfall to remain the TNT Champion. Allin lost the match, his chance to become a three time TNT Champion, and one of his best friends – all in one match. After the bell, the beatdown continued.
‘The Icon’ himself Sting would come to the ring to make the save, but the numbers advantage would further be skewed as Luchasaurus would hit the ring.
A three on one beatdown was too much for even Sting. Conchairto was set – but the lights would go out. The Rated R Superstar was in Seattle, fresh off a final run in WWE.
Metalingus by Alter Bridge would hit, and Adam Copeland was here – a ghost from the past of Cage was here. However, he’d take the chair and look around before taking down Wayne & Luchasaurus.
