When Swerve Strickland took aim at Darby Allin in AEW, few people could have guessed how things would end. What started as Strickland being upset over not earning a chance to become TNT Champion turned into a blood feud, especially after Strickland went after the protege of Allin – Nick Wayne.

That took things to another level, and brought The Icon Sting into the mix – and turned things into a tag team coffin match. Originally, AR Fox was going to team with Strickland – betraying his longtime friend in Darby Allin, but when he failed Strickland, he was pushed to the side.

Instead, Christian Cage – the man who carries the TNT Championship for Luchasaurus would get involved. To win, you need to trap your opponents in a coffin – meaning to beat them into total submission.

Sting Is Ready To Seek & Destroy

Calling back to his past, Sting would come out to Seek & Destroy by Metallica – setting the tone for the match to come. He’d lock eyes with Christian Cage in the middle of the ring – but it was Swerve who would attack from behind.

Sting would gain the advantage as he grabbed a Cricket Bat, and would smash Prince Nana & Swerve with it. Allin grabbed thumbtack studded jackets from the coffin, and alongside Sting would suit up.

After some coffin splashes, Cage would be able to make the save – hitting a spear on Allin. Sting & Swerve brawled on the floor, while Cage would tie the arms of Allin behind his back in the ring.

This would not stop Allin, who hit a Springboard Moonsault on Cage before a suicide dive on Swerve. Sting helped him get free, before being dropped.

In the ring, Cage would set up a Con-chair-to on Allin, but was unable to connect. Swerve would take a Stunner on the apron, and was crushed as Sting dove off the apron twice – as the table refused to crack the first time around. Cage was sat in a chair, and Allin dove down with a dropkick to take him down.

Sting & Allin attempted to shove Cage into the casket, but Luchasaurus made the save. Nick Wayne was out next, but dropped with a headbutt from Luchasaurus and was taken to the back.

Sting & Allin would set up Swerve on top of the casket, and Allin missed the Coffin Drop – landing hard on the casket.

Swerve Strickland Gets Shut Into The Coffin – Sting & Allin Move To 19-0 As Tag Team

Sting would apply the Scorpion Deathlock on Cage in the ring, with Swerve breaking it up using a chair shot. Swerve Stomp would land, and the casket was shoved up into the ring.

Sting was placed in the casket with his bat, which allowed him to prevent the lid from being shut. House Call Kick landed, but Sting rolled out to the mat.

Sting was placed onto the casket, and Swerve went for a 450 Splash – but Sting avoided at the last second. On the floor, Allin knocked Cage out with the TNT Championship.

Sting hit the Scorpion Death Drop on the casket, and tried to shove Swerve inside. He’d be saved by his fingers, only for Sting to pull him out for the Coffin Drop – before the lid was shut on this match.

Notably, this puts Sting & Allin to a 19-0 record in tag team matches in AEW. They’ve never challenged for the championships – but with Sting likely winding down soon, FTR should be keeping an eye on perhaps the top tag team in the company.

Allin however has a singles title match next week, when he faces Luchasaurus for the chance to become a three time TNT Champion.

Should Sting & Darby Allin get a shot at FTR? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
