Following his constant diatribe and disrespect toward the Undertaker on Friday Night Smackdown (6/26), it’s hard not to imagine things not coming to a head and the Undertaker and King Corbin face off at Survivor Series.
This may seem a bit out there given the Undertaker said his Boneyard Match at WrestleMania 36 against AJ Styles was his last one. And to be honest, thematically, it makes sense. He faced off against several opponents, showed a mix of his different wrestling personas from throughout his career, and rode off into the night.
It was the perfect ending to his career, but there’s a lot of us that don’t think he’ll ride off without fanfare. We’re not saying he shouldn’t retire, as there’s a strong argument that he should’ve done so a few years back.
One more match
We all want to see one more match from the Undertaker, just as we always do from our favorite wrestlers.
Our thinking here is that Corbin was pushing too hard, and may continue to push in weeks to come. He’s just too good at poking the bear to be ignored, and it feels like there’s something more to go on. There’s also the full court press the WWE is doing in saying farewell to the Deadman that feels like they’re trying too hard to prove he’s really retired.
If he really hasn’t and his return will be a surprise, then who if anyone will join him against Corbin?
Ideally, we’d love to see him team up with Kane against “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and the Rock one more time in an elimination match. Austin and Rock are still in great shape, and if Kane can find time as Knox County’s mayor, he could also do it.
Sure, this is more a fan’s wish more than not, but what better way to send the Undertaker into retirement than an Attitude Era vs. PG Era match? If they are willing and still able to do it, that is.
But this leads us to another point and it is that the Undertaker will probably be in a tag team match with a superstar (we’re saying Reigns because they did it before) against another team with Corbin as a member just to send Taker out with the biggest pop possible.
But there’s another reason for us to mention Survivor Series and not WrestleMania like many have stated.
30 year anniversary
The Undertaker debuted at Survivor Series on November 22, 1990. This year’s Survivor Series in being held on November 22, 2020.
This is too perfect to ignore and is the once in a lifetime chance to wrap a career up perfectly in a 30 year dominant ball. And like WWE pushing so hard to make us believe he’s retired, the timing of the pay-per-view is too perfect and feels more like tons of planning rather than just chance, like maybe he held on a few extra years to reach this point.
This also plays into the fact that we could see other legends from the Attitude Era there in one way or another, as it gets the childhood fans in us excited to see things close in such a perfect way.
However his career ends, whether it was at WrestleMania 36 or at this year’s Survivor Series, We sih him the best. Thank you, Taker, for everything.
