Mr. Iguana is one of the fastest rising stars in Lucha Libre. Famous in the independent Lucha Libre scene, Iguana is soaring through the ranks of AAA.
Mr. Iguana sat down with ESPN Mexico to talk about his rise in AAA. Here’s are some of the comments by the young star:
Santiago Ibarra Calderón, the man behind Mr. Iguana, has a degree in communication, and during his time as a student he was interested in this sport, that’s how he began training in his native Culiacán, nowadays he has accumulated 11 years as professional in wrestling.
At the beginning of this year, the AAA signed him to be part of his roster, this changed Mr. Iguana’s life and plans. He is about to take the next step. What are his short-term plans?
“At this time I was going to move to CDMX for the closest shows (Puebla, Zacatecas, San Luis), because being in Culiacán I was not going to be able to travel except for television, this pandemic thing happened and I stayed in Culiacán, in August if everything goes well the move will start. My plans are to continue making myself known, to keep growing and to be on the company’s star charts and to show people how much I can give ”
Mr. Iguana talked to Diego Beltran about the passing of La Parka, as he was in the event that Parka suffered the fall:
[…] Mr. Iguana was at the event where La Parka suffered the accident that ultimately cost him his life, he talked with the previous one to go up to fight and his death hit him quite a lot because for Mr. Iguana he was a reference and to whom he kept respect and admiration.
“Minutes before he went out to wrestle I saw him, he came from Reynosa, it was his second fight and I said to him: ‘I see you agitated Chuy’. -Yes, I come from there and I come tired. And we already laughed because he was always a very happy person, very respectable, for me, La Parka was one of the most gentlemanly people, with the best energy and advice they could give you in wrestling and when all this happens, minutes after that we talked about, it is going through my head that I did not imagine that would happen that day. ” […]
Mr. Iguana has a unique vision of wrestling, he does not want to be a banner, what he wants is to be a spokesperson for values and an example for youth, that will undoubtedly lead him to achieve his goals, in addition to being a fighter in constant preparation and who is currently looking for an evolution in his personal and professional life.
