WWE 205 Live Results: Tony Nese vs. Danny Burch

Last month, Danny Burch got a rare singles match against Tony Nese, and even won that match, the biggest singles win of his career! This was due to Ariya Daivari running in to attack Oney Lorcan, and Nese not taking the cheap shot on Burch. Now, Nese is done trying to be a good guy, and has a rematch with Burch to avenge that loss on his record. Would the result remain the same?

Danny Burch Takes His Eyes Off His Opponent

This match would start with some chain wrestling, both men equally matched in this regard, leading a draw on the mat. They’d regain their vertical base, and Burch would grab the arm, take Nese down and look for an STF, but was way too close to the ropes.

A test of strength would come next, but the technical style of Burch would come into play and Nese would nearly have his hand stomped, but narrowly dodge. Nese would go for a headlock, but Burch would slip right out and grab the wrist. It’s becoming crystal clear that Nese needs to focus on his power and striking, as Burch was out wrestling him at every pass.

After being tied up in the ropes, Nese tried to get a cheap shot on Burch, but a backslide would be hooked for a quick pinfall attempt. Ariya Daivari would stumble down to join commentary, distracting Burch as he came down the ramp. Burch would make his way to ringside, and the cheapshot from Nese would land this time, hitting a forearm and slamming Burch into the barricade.

    Tony Nese Takes Complete Control

Back in the ring, Nese now had an undisputed level of control. Burch would be pummeled as Nese turned on his aggression and hit that next gear. He’d be mowed down with a hard back elbow, but finally get an opening with a vertical suplex.

Burch would be dropped again with a chop to the throat, and Nese would then send that throat over the top rope, and then go for the cover. Nese would snuff out another comeback with a dropkick, before applying a side headlock. Burch would fight free, and nail a headbut. Maybe this is what finally would get him back in control.

Burch would begin to string some offense together once again, hitting some strikes and a big back body drop before letting out a primal howl. Nese would be kicked in the face, Burch would got to the second rope for a dropkick.

Looking to press his advantage over Nese, Burch would look to end this with his elevated DDT. Nese would fight out and trip Burch up, looking for his springboard moonsault. Burch easily dodged this, hit a German Suplex and a big running clothesline, getting a near fall.

    Both Men Hit Their Stride

A kick to the neck of Burch would stun him, as Nese goes for the moonsault again, but this would miss and the crossface would be applied! Burch put his body between Nese and the ropes, making it hard to break the hold. Nese would fight hard, but eventually make it to the ropes, but has the damage been done?

Burch would come back with some strikes, but Nese set up and nailed the Pumphandle Driver. Nese would go for the running Nese, but Burch dodged and sent them both to the floor. Daivari would stand up from the commentary booth, with him mouthing off to Burch before sneaking behind him as he went to the apron. Burch would kick Daivari but Nese would catch him with a quick kick, and one Running Nese ended this one.

This was the type of match that put 205 Live on the map. An absolutely epic war from two of the best wrestlers on the brand, without commercial breaks or gimmicks to distract. Should 205 Live focus on longer matches more often? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
