New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) took the Power Struggle tour to the Yamata Big Wing on October 28th. A COVID-19 (Coronavirus, 2019) reduced crowd of 835 saw the event live, as the promotion moved towards the Power Struggle feature event on November 7th.

October 28th Road to Power Struggle Results

The marquee match saw the Los Ingobernables de Japon (LIJ) tandem of IWGP Heavyweight and IWGP Intercontinental ‘Double Champion’ Tetsuya Naito and Sanada defeat Bullet Club members, upcoming ‘Double Champion’ challenger Evil and Dick Togo at 13 minutes and 54 seconds mark when Sanada submitted Togo with the Skull End.

Evil has struggled to gain momentum thus far during the tour going into his championship match at Power Struggle on the 7th.

The headline match saw Golden Ace (Hiroshi Tanahashi/Kota Ibushi) team with Tomoaki Honma to defeat the Bullet Club team of “Switchblade” Jay White, Kenta, and Gedo at the 16 minutes and 15 seconds mark after Honma used his Top Rope Kokeshi technique on Gedo.

Ibushi defends his right to challenge for the ‘Double Championship’ at Wrestle Kingdom 15 against Switchblade at Power Struggle, while Tanahashi challenges Kenta for his right to make the V3 challenge of the second IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship reign of Jon Moxley on the same date.

The fourth match saw the Suzuki-Gun team of NEVER Openweight Champion Minoru Suzuki and IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions El Desperado/Yoshinobu Kanemaru defeat the LIJ team of upcoming NEVER Openweight Challenge Shingo Takagi and upcoming IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion challengers Hiromu Takahashi/Bushi.

Kanemaru gained the fall over Bushi at the 12 minutes and 12 seconds mark with a Sunset Flip technique. Takagi makes the V1 challenge of Suzuki’s second reign with the NEVER Openweight Championship at Power Struggle, while Hiromu/Bushi receive their championship match on November 1st.

The third match saw the Empire team of Revolution Pro Wrestling (RevPro) Undisputed British Heavyweight Champion Will Ospreay and Great-O-Khan defeat “Rainmaker” Kazuchika Okada and NJPW Los Angeles (LA) Dojo Young Lion Gabriel Kidd.

O-Khan gained the fall at the 10 minutes and 21 seconds mark after using his Eliminator technique on Gabriel Kidd. Okada and O-Khan face one another at Power Struggle on November 7th.

The second match saw the CHAOS trio of upcoming IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team challengers Hirooki Goto/Yoshi-Hashi and reigning KOPW (presumably King of Pro Wrestling) titleholder Toru Yano defeat the Suzuki-Gun trio of IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions Dangerous Tekkers (Zack Sabre Jr/Taichi) and Douki.

Goto gained the fall over Douki at the 11 minutes and 1-second mark after he and Yoshi-Hashi used their tandem GYW technique.

Goto/Yosh-Hashi challenge for the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championship on November 2nd, while Zack Sabre Jr challenges for KOPW title at Power Struggle.

The opening match of the event saw NJPW Noge Dojo Young Lions compete. Yota Tsuji defeated Yuya Uemura at the 8 minutes and 22 seconds mark by submission with a Full Crab.
