This Wednesday brings arguably the biggest match in AEW Dynamite history. It’s AEW World Champion Jon Moxley defending against Kenny Omega. These are two of, if not the hottest names in professional wrestling right now, and their match comes to us on TV. It’s a monumental occassion, and this match is truly too close to call. Let’s look at what could help Jon Moxley walk away with his title, one more time.

Always One Step Ahead Of Kenny Omega

The main advantage that Jon Moxley has coming into this match, is a matter of history. From the start of AEW at Double or Nothing 2019, Moxley has had his eyes on Kenny Omega. He’d jump him following the match between Omega & Chris Jericho, but would suffer an injury during the G1 Climax which kept him from making their match at All Out 2019.

Instead, Moxley returned on the first episode of AEW Dynamite, and put Kenny Omega through a glass table. This set up their match at Full Gear 2019, which isn’t counted in AEW record books due to being a Lights Out match, but in this wild hardcore brawl, Jon Moxley came out on top.

Even now, in their latest feud, Jon Moxley stands tall. Omega got someone to beat him down ahead of the first contract signing, but Moxley took Omega out himself. While Omega needed help, Moxley was right there behind Omega during his entrance, and showed once again, that he’s the one who controls their encounters.

Jon Moxley Is On The Top Of His Game

While a year ago, Jon Moxley seemingly needed a hardcore rules match to defeat Kenny Omega, he’s a different breed of cat now. He was already a great proven wrestler from his time in the 2019 G1 Climax, but his string of defenses has shown him get better than ever. This is peak Jon Moxley, a man who has survived the likes of Brian Cage, Eddie Kingston, Lance Archer, Brodie Lee, MJF and more. He’s had more big singles match wins in the past year than anyone else in AEW, including Kenny Omega.

Omega has a few big singles wins, but spent the majority of the year in a tag team with Hangman Page. An ironman match with PAC, a defense of the AAA Mega Championship against Sammy Guevara, and the AEW World Championship Eliminator tournament. That’s all Omega has had, and while beating Hangman Page & Penta El Zero M is impressive, it’s not Jon Moxley impressive.

Jon Moxley has the winning edge over Kenny Omega, and more big singles matches under his belt this year. Will that be enough to have him walk away once again with the AEW World Championship? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
