The World Tag League is just about done, and while it hasn’t been the best NJPW tournament of the year, it is ending very strong. Shingo Takagai & SANADA, Dangerous Tekkers, Tomohiro Ishii & Toru Yano, FinJuice, Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI, and Guerrillas of Destiny all tied at 10 points. This makes every match aside from the opener relevant to the finals, a tense situation yet a simple one. You just need to win.

World Tag League 2020 Match: BULLET CLUB (Bad Luck Fale & Chase Owens) vs. BULLET CLUB (EVIL & Yujiro Takahashi)

This is the only match without any potential tournament winners, but is far from skippable. It’s BULLET CLUB vs. BULLET CLUB, and we won’t see any brotherhood here. Many of the classic members don’t fully trust EVIL, and you don’t get more senior in this faction than Fale. EVIL has to prove himself worthy to The Rogue General, and the best way to do so is show some serious fight.

They’d all hit the Too Sweet, and Yujiro would grab a microphone to say Pieter is coming back, and used that distraction to roll up Owens. Yujiro also teased laying down for Owens and rolled him up for another two. They’d play hot potato with Yujiros walking stick and channeled Eddie Guerrero before another roll up. Basically, this match was the Bullet Club comedy special, with Owens winning with a rope assisted roll up. Neither team made the finals, but god it was fun.

    Match Rating: 2/5 (**)

World Tag League 2020 Match: Guerrillas Of Destiny (Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa) vs. HenarACE (Hiroshi Tanahashi & Toa Henare)

This tournament didn’t go as planned for HenarACE, only winning a single match along the way. Despite this, they can be relevant in the finals by playing spoiler for Guerrillas of Destiny, who just want to finally win this tournament after years of trying. They’re so close they can taste it, but this last match could bring their dreams crumbling down.

After G.O.D struck from behind to start this match, Henare would lead the charge into making the return. Things looked promising, until Tama Tonga got his hands on Hiroshi Tanahashi and applied a tight Sharpshooter. That injured leg came into play, he couldn’t reach the ropes, and Loa had Henare neutralized. Tama left the hold in for some extra time to send a message, and this was a mugging. They won in record time, and now Guerrillas of Destiny reached 12 points, to stay in the mix. Hiroshi Tanahashi will have a lot to think about after this tournament and match, as The Ace has never been lower.

    Match Rating: 2/5 (**)

World Tag League 2020 Match: Los Ingobernables de Japón (SANADA & Shingo Takagi) vs. The Empire (Great-O-Khan & Jeff Cobb)

These are two teams who formed for this tournament, and both have been insanely impressive. The Empire are eliminated at 8 points, but could be the wall that keeps SANADA & Shingo out of the finals. This promises to be nothing short of a hard hitting war, but that’s any match that contains Shingo Takagi. It’s a must win for L.I.J if they want to make the finals.

The promise of a war was delivered upon, as Shingo Takagi would run into these two powerhouses while SANADA tried to use his technical skills. Things looked promising for L.I.J, but SANADA was taken out, and Shingo Takagi couldn’t win the two on one. Cobb would nail Tour of The Islands, pin the NEVER Openweight Champion, and send a message. Both teams end at 10 points, but the real story here is that Jeff Cobb wants to become a two time NEVER Openweight Champion, and Shingo might have a challenger for Wrestle Kingdom.

    Match Rating: 3.25/5 (*** ¼)

World Tag League 2020 Match: Dangerous Tekkers (Taichi & Zack Sabre Jr.) vs. CHAOS (Tomohiro Ishii & Toru Yano)

Toru Yano & Tomohiro Ishii are as good as we’ve ever seen them together, and tonight they look to punch their ticket to the finals by just beating the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions. Not that it will be easy, but Toru Yano is the ultimate foil for Zack Sabre Jr, and Ishii has proven to be able to beat Taichi down, so if things go according to plan, they just might be able to do it! Both teams need to win to make the finals, and whoever wins here makes it to next Friday.

After some comedy antics from ZSJ & Toru Yano, and some hard hitting action from Ishii & Taichi, things settled into a good flow for Tekkers. They would take Yano out, and isolate Ishii. That is a tricky plan, but they’d be able to hit the Holy Zack Driver & Zack Mephisto to win and punch their ticket to 14 points.

    Match Rating: 3.75/5 (*** ¾)

World Tag League 2020 Match: FinJuice (David Finlay & Juice Robinson) vs. CHAOS (Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI)

Defending World Tag League winners FinJuice had a rocky road, but have come back in a big way and could make the finals once again. It just takes one more win, and it’ll have to come at the expense of a very game Goto & YOSHI-HASHI. This CHAOS unit has really shined throughout this tournament, figuring out a solid finisher and showing unmatched babyface fire. Both teams need to win to make the finals.

This was a face vs. face tag team clinic, as both teams somehow stayed on the fans good side with their pure fighting spirit. It was as good of a tag team match as you’ll ever see, with Juice Robinson fighting his heart out especially. From the moment the bell rang it was an insane sprint, with every tag team move in the book being used before FinJuice hit the Stunner into Pulp Friction for the win.

If you only watch one match from this year’s World Tag League, make it this one.

    Match Rating: 4.5/5 (**** ½)

World Tag League 2020 ends with FinJuice, Dangerous Tekkers, Guerrillas of Destiny were all tied. Tiebreakers meant that Tekkers are out, and it’s FinJuice vs. G.O.D in the final match. Who will win? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
