There have only been a handful of Royal Rumble winners that have been able to win the famous match after unluckily drawing number one or two. Famous stars to have achieved that feat include Rey Mysterio, Vince McMahon and Shawn Michaels.
After drawing one of the first two numbers, superstars will have to outlast all the other competitors that enter the match, which will be particularly difficult as they would have had the most amount of time in the match. But, which superstars could be unlucky in drawing the first two numbers in this year’s match?
WWE News: Finn Balor
There are a number of free spots available in the match this year, which could mean that we could see the return of Finn Balor on the main roster. Balor has been reborn during his second spell in NXT, and is the reigning champion on the yellow brand.
However, we could get a taste of the shocks that we could about to see if Balor enters the Rumble at number one. It would be an excellent way of re-introducing the star to the mainstream audience ahead of him returning to Raw or SmackDown at some point in the near future, and he could have a strong showing.
WWE News: Daniel Bryan
Daniel Bryan is the heavy favourite to win the Royal Rumble match this year, and there would certainly be interest in seeing Bryan become the first superstar since Mysterio to win the Rumble after drawing one of the first numbers.
It would be fitting for the Bryan story to achieve that feat, as his story has always relied on him fighting off huge odds. That could once again by his driving force on his way to a WrestleMania main event against Roman Reigns.
WWE News: Braun Strowman
We haven’t seen Braun Strowman on weekly television for a while now, but his return is reportedly coming very soon. It could come during the Royal Rumble this weekend. One of the reasons why the Rumble was so enjoyable last year was down to the fact that Brock Lesnar put in an excellent performance after drawing number one.
Strowman could do a very similar job in the Rumble this year, and come across strong by eliminating the first superstars that enter the match. It’s unlikely that he will get the win in the match, but it would be an excellent way to bring him back looking as strong as ever.
