Lee Johnson has been a fan favorite on AEW Dark for some time now, but has had a hard time getting in the win column, especially on Dynamite. That changes tonight, as he teams with the leader of The Nightmare Family, The American Nightmare himself; Cody Rhodes. They will face Pretty Peter Avalon & Cezar Bononi in what should be a very fun tag team contest.
Cezar Bononi & Peter Avalon Have A Touch More Experience
Rhodes would start with Avalon, picking up where their recent singles match left off. Avalon was hit with a forearm shot, and Avalon was stomped into the corner before he was pulled to the corner of The Nightmare Family. Johnson tagged in, and he was focused on Avalon, missing the tag out to Bononi. A hard shot from behind dropped Johnson, before Avalon tagged back in.
Johnson would moonsault out of the corner over the head of Avalon before nailing a dropkick. He threatened to punch Avalon in the face, prompting Avalon to quickly tag in Bononi. Bononi went for a powerbomb, but Johnson slipped out and hit a jawbreaker. Rhodes was tagged in, and Bononi absorbed some lariats before finally being dropped.

Bononi would catch Rhodes with a pumphandle slam, and start to stomp him down into the mat. Avalon was tagged in, he’d get some shots on Rhodes before quickly bringing the powerhouse back in to beat Rhodes down. Bononi & Avalon have a single win on AEW Dark, and they have just that touch more tag team chemistry.
Rhodes would be thrown across the ring, but was able to put Avalon onto the apron and catch a diving crossbody into a gutbuster. Johnson tagged in and nailed a neckbreaker on Avalon before tripping Bononi out of the ring and diving onto him with a corkscrew splash. Avalon took a Fisherman Neckbreaker, but Bononi was able to break the pinfall up. Bononi flapjacked Johnson in the middle of the ring, but Avalaon missed the Marti-Knees, allowing Johnson to get the roll up for the win!
