Hikaru Shida put the AEW Women’s World Title Eliminator Tournament together, and especially helped with the Japanese side of the tournament. However, why should they have all the fun in the ring? The AEW Women’s World Champion will team with Mei Sugura & Rin Kadokura to take on Emi Sakura, Veny & Maki Itoh in a six woman tag team match. Sakura reached the semi-finals, while Veny, Itoh, Sugura & Kadokura all got knocked out in the first round. This is a great chance for everyone aside from Shida to raise their stock in the AEW Women’s division.

Hikaru Shida & Maki Itoh Square Off

There wouldn’t be much time before Sakura’s team rushed Shida and dropped her with a facebuster. Maki Itoh went for a Kokeshi, putting her giant head to good use but missing. Shida quickly got to work on Itoh, before being put in the corner for some heavy strikes. Itoh would be dropped with a big forearm from Shida, and came back with a heavy headbutt. Shida nailed her with a gamiguri, before Sakura and Kadokura got tags

Sakura was dropped for a double stomp, before Kadokura hit a cannonball senton in the corner. Kadokura was hit with a set of backbreakers, before Veny tagged in and lazily kicked Kadokura in the head. Veny took some chops from Kadokura, before dropping her with a single slap to the face. Sugura tripped Veny up and allowed Kadokura to hit a running dropkick, before Veny was hit with a Northern Lights Suplex.

Kadokura tagged in Sugura, who got a crafty roll up on Veny before being dropped with a facebuster and hit with a springboard moonsault. Emi Sakura would be tagged in, and would put her student in the surfboard stretch while Maki Itoh sang, before hitting the kokeshi. Sakura took damage as well, Itoh and her argued and Veny got back to business.

Suruga would be hit with some big bodyslams, before Itoh tagged back in. She’d choke Sugura on the ropes, and Sakura hit some chops as well. Sakura tagged back in to put her student in a chinlock, before Sugura showed her skills with a leg roll pinfall. She’d avoid the Angels Wings, and scoop slam her trainer.

    Emi Sakura Attacks Her Students

Shida got the tag, stacked up Itoh & Sakura in the corner and suplexed Veny into them. Sakura was draped over the apron and hit with a knee strike, before being taken in the ring and hit with a big tilt-a-whirl backbreaker, before Sakura hit one back. Veny & Sugura came in, both being hit with back breakers before Sakura & Shida got back into it.

Itoh hit a swinging DDT before Kadokura kicked her lights out. Veny dropped Kadokura, and Sugura took out Veny with the Big Apple Punch. Shida & Suruga took out Sakura, before Suruga hit a splash off the shoulders of Shida. Sakura would tie up her old students and hit a diving crossbody before tagging in Veny to hit a moonsault to the outside.

Veny and Shida went to work in the ring, Shida dodging a rainmaker but taking a spinning wheel kick. Sakura & Veny hit splashes off the top rope, before Shida fired up and looked for the Falcon Arrow. Veny countered into a German Suplex, before Shida rolled into the corner and was hit with an Itoh Headbutt.

Shida took a big powerbomb, Kadokura made the save, Shida hit a series of suplexes for a nearfall before nailing the Tamashi Knee Strike for a near fall. Sakura made the save, but Kadokura & Sugura took her out. Shida hit Falcon Arrow and another Tamashi Knee for the win.

This was an excellent six person tag team match, with all six of them showing just how skilled they are. Was action from bell to bell, and even a brawl after the bell. Maki Itoh, Veny, Rin Kadokura & Mei Suruga are all stars on AEW’s radar after this tournament, and they’d help boost the roster in a big way. Match Rating: 3.75/5 (*** ¾)
