It hasn’t been long since the last clash between August Grey & Ashante Adonis, with it happening on the March 24th episode of 205 Live. On that night, Grey would come out with the win. Grey has actually been quite dominant as of late, having won 6 of his last 9 matches. The same can not be said about Adonis, who hasn’t won a singles match since March 17th, when he snuck out a win over Ariya Daivari. Can Grey keep his winning ways alive against Adonis tonight on 205 Live?
Ashante Adonis Continues To Grow As A Star
Adonis would take the Naito approach to starting a match, and take a ton of time to take off his entrance gear to annoy Grey who just wanted to get this one started. However, cheap shots aren’t for Grey, so he let it play out. Adonis would shove him into the corner on the opening lock up, before pulling off his headband and slapping him across the face with it.
Grey responded with a wrist lock, and would grab the headband to slap Adonis with it. Adonis hit the shoulder block, and caught a crossbody into a powerslam attempt. Grey slipped out, but was sent off the ropes and into a back elbow strike. Some shoulder thursts in the corner from Adonis would stun him, but a roll up attempt from Grey caught him by surprise.
An arm drag took Adonis to the mat, before he’d try to struggle free. He’d shove Grey to the ropes once he got vertical and yanked him into the top rope, tripped him up and shoved him to the floor in a nasty fashion. The crowd chanted that he sucked, but he soaked it in. Grey stumbled back into the ring, and Adonis kept control of Grey on the mat. A kick to the spine got a two count, and the crowd was getting behind Grey.
August Grey Gets Doomed By Ariya Daivari
Some elbow drops would hit Grey, but he’d roll away from the last one and dodge a knee drop. Adonis took a chop before hitting the Air Drop. A snapmare takedown led to a rear chinlock, and Grey fought up before Adonis applied The Captains Hook, a move he picked up from The Brian Kendrick.
Grey fought free but was dropped with a Belly To Back Suplex in the middle of the ring. Daivari came to ringside, loiking to watch the climax of the match. Adonis took a running neckbreaker, before also getting the bulldog and rope walk crossbody.
Grey was rolling, and threw Adonis over the top rope but missed a baseball slide. A double down off a lariat could have gotten Grey a countout win, but he elected to get Adonis back in the ring. This displeased Daivari, who scolded Grey like someone who found their toddler doing wrong. Adonis slipped behind Greyand set up a flapjack, before the Long Kiss Goodnight got him the win.
