Brian Johnson is one of the fastest rising stars in Ring Of Honor. The Mecca of Professional Wrestling is finally done messing around with Danhausen, and now will lay out an open challenge to the ROH locker room. He feels like he is able to beat anyone in that locker room, and is nothing else, he’s as confident as ever. Who doesn’t need factions, because it’s Mecca vs. Everybody.
However, he’s not done with Danhausen yet as his music would hit, and say that because Danhausen has already defeated Johnson, he’s just here to introduce Johnson’s real opponent. The music of PCO would hit, and Johnson looked ready to run for the hills. An open challenge means that even a monster like PCO can answer, and he’s on a 9 match singles win streak, which includes the lone pinfall over RUSH in ROH.
Mecca vs. The Monster ‘PCO’
Realizing he’s outgunned, Johnson got right to attacking PCO from behind and beating him into the corner. PCO would easily fight his way out, before clubbing Johnson down with a lariat before a tossing exploder suplex into the corner. Johnson would be picked right back up and tossed into a different corner with a Death Valley Driver.
They’d brawl to the outside, and PCO battered him with some forearm strikes and dumped Johnson over the barricade with a back body drop. PCO would go wild and take out the time keeper, ring announcer and chase the referee before crashing through the barricade. Johnson noticed that he had an opening and slammed him into another barricade before trying to get PCO in the ring.
PCO would be taken down by a diving lariat, but got right back up before being sent outside and hit with a dive through the ropes. Johnson got him back into the ring, and hit a big splash only for PCO to fire back up.
A pop up powerbomb and a PCO-Sault for a two count. PCO went crazy again, and Johnson used this chance to expose a turnbuckle. Johnson had PCO rush in and got a two count off a roll up. PCO applied the Destro Death Grip, and Johnson had no choice but to tap out.
The return to PCO to ROH was a big deal here, especially as this makes 10 singles wins in a row. Johnson being the first person in ROH to kick out of the PCO-Sault was an equally big deal, and really shows that Johnson is something special. However, that’s all that is good here, as PCO really is more of a spectacle to watch, and falls flat with empty arenas. Match Rating: 2/5 (**)
