It is finally time for Quinn McKay to leave the backstage interviewer role, and take the fight to what is left of The Allure in Ring Of Honor. McKay has been training in the ROH Dojo for this moment after having some indie experience, but she is facing down a seasoned veteran in Angelina Love. Love is a six time Impact Wrestling Knockouts Champion, and one time Women of Honor champion. McKay could be in over her head here, but will do her damndest to stay afloat and perhaps even get a win.
She’s the type who knows to get back up when knocked down, and that mentality combined with her hate for people like Angelina Love? That might be enough to bring the upset win. Taking her bowtie off and showing what she’s been hiding under the formal clothes seen in interviews, McKay showed out the physique of a star. Add in that she’s been trained by Jonthan Gresham since 2019? And you start to see why maybe Love should be concerned despite her 18 year experience edge.
Angelina Love Gets Too Cocky, And Quinn McKay Takes Advantage
McKay extended her hand for the Code Of Honor before the bell, but Love turned this down. They’d lock up in the middle of the ring and Love applied a wrist lock before moving into the hammerlock. She was showing that she is able to out-wrestle McKay, but took her down and walked across her back.
McKay would be able to gain control during the commercial break and get a side headlock on the mat, but Love would break free and whip McKay into the mat by her hair. Love drove the head of McKay into the mat again and again, before choking McKay on the ropes. Mandy Leon would get involved, before Love looked for a pin and McKay kicked out at one.
McKay was thrown across the ring, but she’d rush back into a headscissor lock before being kicked down. A flatliner into the Koji Clutch would force McKay to crawl to the ropes, and Love would have to drag her back into the middle of the ring and reapply the hold. McKay was fading, but Love let the hold go before the match could be ended.
Love would be hit with a jawbreaker before Mandy Leon got involved, but McKay dodged the Botox Injection kick and nailed a powerslam for a two count! McKay applied the Tangerine Dream submission, and took Love into the middle of the ring. Leon talked trash to McKay, trying to throw her off her game, and got McKay to release the hold. McKay took Leon off the apron, but turned into the Botox Injection kick, and this one was over.
This match was pro wrestling 101. Angelina Love has always been underrated in the ring, and played the heel role to perfection here in his match. McKay played the underdog babyface rookie great as well, and truly made everyone believe she was able to choke Love out. A damn fine debut for McKay, who has a very bright future. Match Rating: 3/5 (***)
